Fiction Gollancz to publish three books

What I would like is a movie about an average joe who has to make ends meet by hauling freight, gets into conflict with pirates, perhaps tries some smuggling, piracy even, but learns it is not that easy. He could get caught in the power struggle of powerful corporations, or perhaps some political machinations of the Federation and the empire.... or whatever.

But never ever should it be about someone who has to save the universe from evil aliens.

I predict you're going to love one of our books... Although arguably maybe two of them...

With all these books lined up, not to mention the audio-books to listen to too, I'll have no time to actually play the game :S

Hope that makes sense!

Very much so, thank you again.

I'm impressed Gollancz took the risk of having only about 15 months from start to publication back at kickstarter time.

I daresay it would be unusual for publishing houses to directly 'advertise' others' wares on the flyleaf, but I think it's an excellent idea. Good luck to you, Fantastic, and all of the other publishers (and associated authors).

I am actually getting a bit excited now, it's starting to feel real.

Question to Marcus:

Would you by any chance consider attending Fantasticon in Hull this August?
Its the conference organised by fantastic books.

Well, to be fair, my plan was always for these to be short novels so we knew they would be quicker to write and edit than a full-length book - they ended up ranging from 45k words to 78k (most books are normally in the 90-120k word range, maybe 150k+ for a big fat fantasy)

We'd love to, but sadly it clashes with Loncon3, which is the World Science Fiction convention in London. It hasn't been in the UK for 9 years, and one of the guests of honour this year is my boss, so all of Gollancz will be at that. At least two of the authors have already bought their tickets and hotel rooms as well.

It's possible that one or two of the other authors may make it up to Fantasticon, but I wouldn't bet on it. A real shame - we'd have loved to have been there.

The plan is for us all to be at Lavecon, though, probably for a day.

Owh wow... didn't even know that! Good reasons though!

Ack, damn, completely wasn't aware of that clash :-/

If you want any marketing materials etc displayed at FantastiCon I'm sure we could arrange that at least.
