Good job frontier! Engineer exploit fixed in 24 hours!

Why would a company responsible for the integrity of an online game, after a major and long term exploit comes to light, that completely undermines a part of the game the company has spent significant time effort and money balancing, not reassure players that they have removed all such exploited/undermining items from the game? :|

You are making a fundamental mistake a corporation is bind by the charter which is created and shareholders not by the publicized policy which can change anytime

But I do expect the exploited content to be removed from the game. The punishment there is, with the prospect of having a bigger chance of god rolls, these players probably have voluntarily grinded and grinded and grinded to get those rolls. Having that effort go to waste, and rightfully so, is sufficient in my book.

I haven't been a good forum citizen and read the entire thread so I apologize if I am raking over old ground but maybe the way to re-balance is to give everyone god rolls on their mods?

Yep, as I keep saying, Frontier should either:

(A) Publicly guarantee that every exploited module has been removed from the game, or

(B) Announce that because they cannot guarantee that every exploited module has been removed from the game, henceforth all blueprints may be rolled using one g1 mat.

How can anything - anything - else be fair?

(B) would break engineers, so it might as well read: remove engineers from game. They were all eaten by Thargoids as a strategic measure to cripple us puny humans.

Except Farseer, there are too many player killers there, who by their own admission are very frightening indeed. Even Thargoids don't like to be ganked, and they kinda like old bird Facility.

I think FD just won't care, they will just sit on their hands till this all blows over and people stop caring about it.
If there's a choice between doing something positive which will help the game but requires development or doing nothing as it costs nothing I'd expect the latter.

Does no one remember combatlog-gate?

Yeah, they could eat the engineers themselves too.

Spare Elvira. She has all the mods that should be legal anyway. Just let her sell Plains cargo racks. :D

Hey man, I got news for you, buddy: the game ain't fair. "Life" isn't fair, and since this game is supposed to be realistic, the game should also be unfair. Furthermore-this isn't a game where everybody gets to save the Princess. Also - something about toys out of the pram. And on a related note - you probably want cutscenes and voice acting. Did you know that game development is *hard*? I think the devs probably have Bigger Fish To Fry. It is a 10 Year Plan, after all. If you don't like these so-called "exploits" (which are really just a way for poor downtrodden oppressed minorities to level the playing field against you no-life obsessive PvPers), then maybe This Isn't The Game For You. Plus, probably hardly anyone has been using this "exploit". Best thing to do is just move on and not worry about it. After all, it has no effect on YOUR GAME what someone else has acquired through whatever means. I don't know why so many people are obsessed with limiting the play styles of others. Don't like the "exploit"? Don't use it. Problem solved and there's no reason anyone anywhere could ever possibly have any rational rebuttal to this. My logic is perfect and unassailable something something Blaze Your Own Trail.

EDIT: This was a satirical "joke" post and it represents the opposite of everything I believe. I just can't resist the urge sometimes to mock the talking points that keep getting repeated on these forums. Apologies (and much respect) to Truesilver for hijacking his post, and to any non-native English speakers who felt the need to rebut any of my points; believe me I'm on your side here.

Maybe is news to you but games is not real life and that's why they have very specific rules and constrains

I am not entirely certain FD don't care. I actually believe they do. How does that stack up?
1. I don't think they can find a way of fixing the damage
2. FD appear to have decided silence is golden - and I think this is a mistake - but who am I to say?

As to combat-logging. Never done it (except when ED crashes). But FD think it is part of the game. Many don't like that. Tough. End of.

But again, how can FD actually fix this? You need the ability to log out safely. How can you fix it so people don't do it in the middle of combat? What happens if someone's like if genuinely interrupted by a phone call, a doorbell, a baby etc? Are people with a social life supposed to always lose to people with no friends?

Perhaps we need to introduce the "White Glove" into ED, and if you get slapped with it, you can combat-log out, but the slapper can find you again. Each person can only have one target slapped. Sound's fun?

I just realised the above sentence can be horribly misinterpreted... I think I'll go make the tea.

So good.

I think you might have got every single one. :)

LOL

+1 rep for comedy value... only 7/10 for Troll value as no mention of cowards hiding in groups and too subtle on the mode swapping mission stacking exploits.

so my forum bingo card is not full ;)

Against that backdrop, I’d go so far as to say that your choice would be simple: exploit up, 24/7, production line style, for as long as you can stand it, until your fleet is tip-top, or leave. Because the only things you would feel sure about would be that everyone else will be setting up production lines, and that they will be keeping everything their god roll factory can make, even after the patch – if any – ever comes.

Naaa. Your choice is even simpler. Never play Open. Let the exploit cheaters in their god ships have no one left to troll but each other.

So you think it was a bunch of PVE fanatics out there super charging their ships with what is very clearly an exploit? Good thing it wasn't the pvp hungry, blood thirsty sort using it. Man, we'd all be in trouble if those types took the time to make perfect god rolled ships. Could you imagine them all running around in ships that always guaranteed them a clear and strong advantage over the fair minded pvp types that usually show up to combat them? It would be a disaster!

Shew, thank god only PVE players exploited the hell out of this one.

The above is a very subtle and effective satirical pastiche of a particular type of post. Or poster.

The above are both indicators that the normally aware Aris_ and -Denali- were taken in.

No shame in that - I'll admit, I had to read it twice!

I am very bad at reading sarcasm. Maybe a British forum will cure me of that.

Classic! I just love how many stereotypes and paraphrases you fit in... and I admit I had to read it twice. :)
