Good job frontier! Engineer exploit fixed in 24 hours!

thinking about it,
i have realised - potter can't have had cheated modules.

he wouldn't be able to play in open for the nexdt 30 days, if he was found to have one.
cheaters have been banned, according the anouncement.

Meh, on the contrary. That seems to indicate that either Potter's ship is equipped with a magical improbability drive, or more likely, Frontier's system of justice is a sieve with planet sized holes.

hm i bet the exploit bans are a myth, not even the top of the mountain used it got banned. dunno if it's even more then two hands full ...

Yeah... Sure... And that's why they fly dropships and lightweight paperplane FDLs... And vipers. That's so meta!

138+ rolls on dd5 and +45% on charge distributors on those ships not to mention very very cool wpns , yeah everyone can get those we are so lazy and without skills.

Frankly most player groups did not need the god rolls to win they are good enough and more BUT greed and opportunity always wins because we know the moral fiber they have and how FD reacts

Speaking of Harry good luck going through those " hard earned " shields 10k

look at the speed 477 hahaha

8a empty for a scb and so on...

Ha ha. Looking at that build, I would say it was an exploit even without cheating. :D

Seriously, the main issue is that builds like this are theoretically possible to make. I hope FD have learned their lesson and put hard caps on every value in the ship stats. Cheating or not. It shouldn't be in the game.

I'm sorry, but what announcement? Over the last few days I've seen a few hoaxes concerning bans, mostly within the PvP-community to spread The Fear. I have yet to see a confirmed report of a ban, nor an official statement from FDev that people have been banned. They have said that they have identified accounts that have used the exploit, and are considering what actions to take. Beyond that, I have seen nothing.

So, can you please direct me to the FDev statement that unequivocally confirms that players have been banned? Much appreciated.

Do you know what will happen? Nothing.
They will burn few witches, nothing more. They do not have balls to deal with exploiters and cheaters.

But in fact, Quince, Robigo, ranking and allother exploits are the same kind, they should burn almost everyone here for cheating.

What is beautifull? They can do nothing to keep the face, because whatever they will do, then they do wrong.
Thats why they will do nothing, someone will upset, someone will dont care, ball will be still in the game.

Gankers in GodRolled death stars gonna gank, haters gonna hate, whinners gonna whin, nothing will change.
You may deny it, but it is happening since two years.

That's because there is nothing to see.

I've been wracking my brains for a solution to this thing. I'm afraid I think that the proposed capping of all rolls at their natural maximums and removal of all secondaries would have been great if introduced at the start but would now be unfair to PvE guys who got their god rolls legit.

I therefore believe that the only way forwards is for Frontier to accept that towards the end of Season 2 it is time to open up The Engineers: make all blueprints require only one g1 material for the roll.

That way the many could now do what the few have already been doing for the past year.

I think they should redesign Engineers to The Slider conception.
RNG is just wrong design and missed idea from the beginning.

Sliders:

Change Engineers from being completely RNG-based to being slider-based. Increase the mats costs by 5-10x for all I care, but let me choose the specific stats I have on the mod and see the drawbacks, that way I can completely plan my ship to fit together perfectly. I don't need +35% power on my plant to run my build, I only need +10%, so let me sacrifice some power for a little more integrity without doing 200+ rolls to get there.

This will enable builds that can be perfectly crafted by the pilot to meet their exact needs. Explorers can optimize their FSD to get them the max range they want with their builds. Combat pilots can squeeze a little bit more speed/agility out of their ships by surgically shaving weight off their modules and shoving all their points into a higher optimal multiplier on a drive mod.

On top of that, building a new ship after a meta change would take a fraction of the time, so FDev could mess around with values a lot more without♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥off the entire community, because all you'd need is one set of mats to get the exact values you'd want. This would also promote build diversity because it's no longer a 200 hour grind to fully outfit a ship just to see if it works.

That what i love. A diversity in builds, planning builds and focusing on exactly what you want. It could be great. And you can do something without wasting a time for grind 45872340573048750 rolls.

https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/6ft2z2/serious_engineers_and_the_grind/

Now i am feeling like an idiot. I grinded whole weeks mats for my 6A thrusters to roll engine over 140, becaue i though it is possible to get when i saw that on people screens.
Now i know how they got them, i know they did around 2000 rolls for it and i know its just waste my life time to grind rare materials, doing bases for 2000 rolls.
Its just ridiculous nonsense. We have just better things to do than riding straight on planet, only to have competetive ship.

Not sure on the context of your solution. You're assuming Frontier is unable to track the offenders?

If all FD are doing is a 30 day shadow ban and removing the modules, it just gives the cheaters 30 days of unaccosted mats gathering and rerolling. And that's if they take the cheat modules away. There's no evidence that either of these things have happened, but even if they do, it's pretty weak.

Have all the g5 modules generated with g1 materials been removed from the game? Wait, what's that? I can't hear you, speak up louder, please. No, not a single module has been removed you say? Well. The way I do the math, that equates as "This exploit has existed for a year and Fdev still has done nothing to fix it!"

We have a multiple underling problems here the defenders of skill and ability caught with the hand in the cookie jar and they are still acting like nothing going on hoping that FD wont act, credibility goes to zero for those groups until they take a stance.

So far only 2 pvp groups are expressing their opinion where are the others ?

Heat weapons and healing will skyrocket in pvp since they provided the moral excuse, not to mention CL.

And all of these thanks to the defenders of pvp and the fair way of contact

I'm a Lifetime Pass holder but I would pay hard cash for Alien Tech in Season 3 ... if and only if the green guys' E-rank modules are better than A-rank vanilla plus +42% RNGineered god roll.

Basically, if the alien stuff starts at +50% we can forget this mess.

I like that idea. Fdev just *might* be able to salvage this mess by using alien tech that renders previous modules obsolete. In the meantime give us fish to roll a new batch of modules while we wait.
