got my ass kicked!

Decided to go exploring to try to find some undiscovered systems.

Got all of 100ly off the beaten track, nothing e citing but got interdicted by a AI deadly eagle.

No problem for my pimped cobra right?.....

Wrong! I took him out but i am down to 16% hull and my canopy is barely air tight.

Time to go back for a refit.

Fantastic stuff :D

Yeah, those Eagles can be really nasty if you aren't on your toes. Tip: put distance between you and the Eagle...the Cobra has far superior boost and top speed. Take advantage of that. If I'm lazy, I'll just zoom out of range, spin around, slow down so the start catching up...full pips to shields and when the little gnat is in range, unload the WEP capacitor...should be enough to take down their shields and do hull damage.

Once they are damaged they go into evasive mode...again, use your superior speed to end the engagement.

Fought one today packing a rail gun, I had to use a Shield Cell (was also in an Eagle).

All the fights are harder - the AI is much harder to manoeuvre around even in an Eagle.

Eagle giving you trouble in cobra? I eat those crunchy little ships as breakfast cereal! Yeah unless you decide to ignore their threats and let them get behind you, but still you can kick their ass since AI NPCs are stupid as potato.

They have toughen up the eagles and 1.2 will make the AI even tougher apparently.

This galaxy is going to get a awfully lot more dangerous in the near future. A

I am still getting used to the bigger ship I had a lot of success in my eagle and adder. But yes I did not cover myself in glory. That being said I never claimed to be a top gun :)

When I'm being out maneuvered, I throw it into reverse and make them chase me. I fly backwards and use my thrusters to get a shot above them. Works like a charm. I don't worry about turning with someone. If they don't engage, it gives me an opportunity to regroup and plan my next course of action.

I too just got hammered by a viper with a rail gun deep in space. Blind sided me as I wasn't really in the combat mindset.
Cool that the ramped up difficulty keeps you on your toes

yeah, whilst it has stuffed me up, it is important that there is a whole range of skilled AI in the game.

That being said assuming we can get interdicted by multiple AI once the wings functionality is in, then I will be doing a brave sir robin any time there are more than 2 ships who are dangerous or worse after me!.

Even 2 with my limited skills would be a handful, and that is assuming i am on my game unlike last night.

I think I saw a glimmer of this last night. (Solo mode)
My ship: ASP with A gear all around, class 5 shields, 4 x C1F beam lasers, 2 x C2G MC and 80 T cargo - all in all, a quite wellarmed trader, flown by a 'competent' pilot (I'm not a hotshot ace, just a trader wanting to hold on to my load)

First fight was a competent Python: not a big deal, we danced around a bit before he turned to stardust. he did some FA-off slides and stuff, but I had little trouble getting up close and let my MC's shred his hull.
Second fight was a Dangerous Viper: now this one gave me quite an awakening. He used his ships strengths well (speed in this case), was a more than decent shot, and to top it all off, he pulled some moves I have never seen an AI even attempt before.
This guy really made me work for that 30 K bounty, having to use everything my ASP had to bring him down. Well fought mr. AI Viper driver, looking forward to more encounters like this.

In conclusion, Interdictions are up from 1.07, a dangerous AI can actually BE dangerous (and pay well if only I could find the faction, I have close to 100K in unclaimable rewards). Summed up: better be alert out there now :)
