Great Raxxla Potato Hunt - Help us scan every system within 200 ly of Sol

Hello everyone, I am new to you and started my first grid yesterday.
And now a question arises with me. For this I wanted to join on Discord, but the invitation link has expired.

The question:
What do I do if I get into a system I've been in before? In such a system, I can no longer run the FSS, because I have already mapped the system.
In other words, I can no longer uncover the planets because they have already been uncovered.

@Waylinkin Welcome!

The discord links on the front page of this thread and on the status tracker look fine to me. They are set never to expire, not sure what you're running into.

If you have FSS'd a system before, that's fine, but still go through the process in the Search Demo. Resolving bodies in FSS identifies them, but mapping is different - that's flying up and firing probes with the surface scanner. (We only map 8th moons.)

The reason is that resolving FSS isn't the same at actually looking at what's there, particularly when it comes to signals for things like Crashed Ships. We want to look at every system the same way.

Also: the amount of procedural stuff has changed a lot in Odyssey, and whether signals appear can depend on whether the body is landable. Slegnor put together a list of this stuff:

Thanks.
Does this mean that if I have already scanned a planet with probes, I can scan it again with probes and get different results? Otherwise, scanning again with probes would make no sense.
I've never tried this before because it didn't make sense in my eyes.

Or have I possibly misunderstood something due to the translation (i am german)?

If you have discovered a body by FSS, it will stay discovered. If you have mapped a body with probes, it will stay mapped. But you should look at it again anyway, to be certain that it was actually looked at.

I was able to solve the problem with Discord. It was due to the browser. I use the Brave browser, which showed me the problem with the invalid invitation.
Now I tried with Edge, and there it worked. Very strange. ^^

Status Update for Week of 2023-07-08 : 2023-07-15

We've scanned 3,763 / 5,123 grid sections (+4), which is 73.45% of our search grid.
That includes 50,609 / 67,941 systems (+97), which is 74.49% of systems.*

Notes:

  • 15 Megaships
  • 2 Moons
  • CMDR MoonlightNinja found a Crashed Ship on Piorimudjar A 4. (It is bugged, located beneath an installation.)
(estimated from EDSM database)

Honestly: I'm not sure this is a bug. Yeah, it aligns with the installation, but it does look like a landing gone wrong.
Visited the planet in Legacy Horizons and it's a Type-9 but not located inside Gotleib Enterprise, so looks to be similar to the crash on Benepem 6, in different locations dependent on which game version is used.
No wreckage at Gotleib on Legacy.

Traveling around the Bubble at a distance of 400-500 ly, I find many planets in HIP systems already discovered by someone without detailed scanning. I think those who want to discover something need to be more attentive.

To be fair, you only need to go 150-200 ly from Sol and you can still find discovered but unmapped systems, I found one with 28 unmapped not long since, Col 285 Sector TQ-P b21-1

Mapped and first football came out a couple of years after those regions would have been thoroughly explored. As a result, most people would be ignoring them.
