Green Gas Giants, extended data sheet

I'm posting this so it's easier to find, and doesn't get lost in the main thread: I made an extended data sheet of green gas giants, you can find it at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zvY7Wj-NMJXFNTvHPzql-Iv0o_ZbkxyWuIG7TVXS4Y4/edit?usp=sharing. It includes all the physical characteristics of the bodies, star info, galactic regions, likely discoverers (broken down to in-game FD tag, Codex and EDSM uploaders), and more.

Thanks to @Mooing for help with filling out and maintaining the list!

While waiting for someone to travel to the latest GGG and upload data and screenshots, here's an interesting tidbit: there have been 125 days between the two discoveries, with 4.2 million new systems uploaded during that time. Both are on the high end, but not record-setters. (You can see the timeline and statistics on the "Timeline" subsheet.)

Is that the definative list? @Orvidius has 28 on his POI dump.

Also would you happen to know what the codex entryids are? I only have a few recorded so far and could probably guess a few more. But there is no guiarentee of a logical progression.

Yep, it is. It looks like the EDAstro dump has Blua Hypa HT-F d12-1226 logged twice, hence why it's 28 entries.
And sorry, don't have any of the Codex IDs.

Two days ago, CMDR Tiedefender found a new GGG in Boekh AO-H b27-33, Inner Scutum-Centaurus Arm. It's not far from Colonia: is there anyone around there to confirm and upload it?
Commander Arunden has been there and confirmed it, however the planet itself is of the type that would have been missed if not the Codex alert.

Ah, good to see that CMDR TieDefender did get the tags. Thanks for posting the shot!

Well this is odd.

I searched my logs for Green Gas Giants and found this one from 2018

JSON:
{"timestamp":"2018-12-15T23:57:58Z","event":"CodexEntry","EntryID":1200401,"Name":"$Codex_Ent_Standard_Giant_With_Ammonia_Life_Name;","Name_Localised":"Green gas giant","SubCategory":"$Codex_SubCategory_Gas_Giants;","SubCategory_Localised":"Gas giant planets","Category":"$Codex_Category_StellarBodies;","Category_Localised":"Astronomical Bodies","Region":"$Codex_RegionName_18;","Region_Localised":"Inner Orion Spur","System":"Synuefai ZI-A b34-3","SystemAddress":1,"IsNewEntry":true}

But the entryid doesn't look right.

I sent my alt to have a look and didn't get a codex entry and the planet is Dark not green at all.

Have there been many GGG that got reshuffled in a patch?

No, there was a bug in the codex that labeled standard gas giants as green.

(But now that I look at your name I remember that I told you that on Discord already :D )

While we regularly keep the list updated with new finds, I'm posting an update here for something different: I added new total counts for gas giant types. Also, I updated the older uploaded body counts as well.
As usual, be careful about drawing any conclusions, there are simply too few GGGs known, compared to how many systems and gas giants there are.

A heads-up about something new: so that people can check for themselves how much green there is on a GGG (some of them only have a few tiny splotches, after all), we've added a column listing images. By default, they link to the giants' respective GEC entries, as there are image galleries there, but in those cases where there are no entries yet, there's a link to a screenshot at least.

Also, if more people could vote on this issue about the Codex not correctly logging Green Gas Giants with Ammonia/Water-based Life, that would be appreciated. The bug has been there since 2018. Dec., after all, and we might know of more GGGs if this were finally fixed.

In addition, something interesting: since the last new GGG was discovered in February, this has been the longest time between two new ones, seven months. However, when we look at the total number of new systems uploaded to EDDN, it's 3.3 million, while the largest between two discoveries was 4.6 million. Since around 40% of the total new discovered systems are uploaded to EDDN, multiply these numbers by 2.5 to get the total: 8.25 million systems between two new GGGs now, 11.5 million then. It's just that that time was during DW2, and the rate at which new systems are discovered is around a quarter of those days. (Ouch.)

Anyway, these numbers should illustrate well the kinds of chances we are talking about: the median is 2.5 million systems per new GGG, the average is 3.2 million systems. The highest outlier was the 11.5 million already mentioned above.
It makes me wonder what these would look like if the Codex didn't have those bugs with registering GGGAL/WLs. Well, probably that there wouldn't have been six outliers.

And hey, if anybody wants to go find a new GGG for themselves, these are the scales which are worth keeping in mind.
