Griefers hiding as NPCs

Or possibly the case could be oh gee I dunno that maybe I didn't know, that I didn't turn around and ask who are you why are you shooting me? I can see the humor side of it but to blatantly create another thread to make fun of someone goes beyond humor.

Making fun of your thread wasn't CaptainSodom's point. It was to point out how deep this fear of griefing goes to the extent that legitimate gameplay (it has to be being NPCs that did it) is decried as griefing.

And don't worry we all make mistakes. :D

I know what EVE is and why there's concerns. What I have seen that CCP have done very little if anything to address those concerns. Also there are some fundamental design issues within EVE to solve it properly.

Regarding stalking I already said - I will consider griefing anything which will constitute breaking forth wall. Singling out single player for long time seems to be case for intervention. I hope FD will come with clear cut corner cases when they will investigate and act upon information.
Yeah we're basically on the same page.

Tone the ego down a notch and realize Sodom is serious about PCs potentially hiding from others and going around attacking people that way but since his OP his fears were dissuaded so now we are left giggling at you...and you are just fueling the fire really... Admit you were wrong, twice now with this outburst, and to borrow an EVE saying HTFU because NPCs are gonna get smarter before long.

Now the egotistical eve personality is showing and with that we will end up with another eve.

Oh! Oh! Another griefer thread! I... I... have nothing to add that hasn't been said...

*goes and plays somewhere, waiting for the next game update*

:D S

Not the only thing ...

Yeah, the only thing more boring are people who take the time to come into threads and tell us there aren't interested in them.

Nope. I'm just so bored with posters telling other posters they're so bored with hearing about the things they're so bored with.

;) Inception, anyone?

There is a problem here, which is one of perception. In a situation where I see the word griefing being thrown around and fear of griefing having such a design impact on the game and the culture here, people being unable to distinguish between completely legitimate gameplay, in this case by an NPC and coming on the forums to complain about it (not realising it's an NPC) shows just how prevalent this fear of griefing has become.

So for me, yes. It is a problem.

Okay, but I was referring to the OP's concerns (manufactured as they may be) that IDENT-off would allow griefers (as defined in the OP) to get away with it.

But...but....I love negotiations...

They rarely talk back to my offers ;).

Another "tempest in a teapot" thread.

Of course some folks are challenged, but it does not mean that the method (Transponder) is faulty. By and large, this will provide anonymity for all type of players and actually reduce griefing possibilities.

Trying to cater to all Disney style would break the game. I'd rather see a few miffed folks that refuse to understand (learn) the rules than making things pointless for all.
