Hi guys
I've been pondering what to do about my Titan XP situation - I noticed on eBay that they are still fetching £ 800+ so thought I may sell it before the price drops further and purchase a AIB 1080ti.
I've been looking at the Asus Strix and the Inno3d IChill series so far.
My question to those who may know is this ........ the Titan XP using a 6 & 8 pin power connector (as does the Ichill) but the Asus uses 8 & 8 pin. Obviously I already have a 6/8 pin cable but also recall having another which I used when I was using 980ti's in SLI. If I went for the Asus - could I use the 8 pin from EACH different cable, leaving the 6-pins hanging loose (or tied up) or does the power have to come from the same lead irrespective of whether 6/8 or 8/8 etc?
Any help/advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
No, it doesn't. You're fine. You can use the 8 pins from different cables, you'll be fine.
If you want my advice -- as a fellow titan (in sli, no less) owner, sell your titans now before the prices plummet below ti's, and pick up a ti. the alleged superior overclock-ability of the titan and that extra gig of memory isn't worth it. I'd do the if my titans weren't overclocking like an absolute beast (far better than typical TI overclocks), and if I haven't already gone to the trouble of installing a hybrid cooler. It's the pinnacle of laziness, but there it is.
