Gunner = Arcade Action Cam for the 12 yr olds?

Ah, please.. we try to discuss those issues in a respectful way. Its about trying to find compromises which benefits all sides. Your bashing of those who raise concerns isnt helpful either.

In fairness people read your troll thread title and will react.

its not immersive in
the sense of being physically possible in any way. If FD would have
made it more schematic, so that the ship itself is a rendered wireframe and the spacebackground is replaced with something else, I would be able to believe

I'll save your immersion: it's just a third-person camera angle stitched together from multiple cameras located around the ship. It's not wireframe because it's the 3300s and we learned how to render 3D graphics in the 1990s. Some cars already have this technology to help with parking. Boom. Problem solved. Game is playable again. What a relief.

Why not just putting a Drone model around the ship and say this is the gunner's drone view ? When other pilotes take it down gunner has cooldown or something like that ?
Something like the mining drones, or refuel limpets ? Simple enough. I agree tho, this 3rd person camera I don't really like.

Because this:

To be honest, you're kinda wrong about the third person thing being at odds with the ED universe. You'd be amazed some of the stuff I learned researching the lore!

There's also plenty of lore that was retconned, so I'm not sure why people should use that argument if the people who wrote and programmed the game are saying it fits the universe.

respectful? I simply dont agree with your opinion and you should respect that! bashing of those who raise concerns is needed to stop threads like this crippling the game even more! Thats my opinion...

I remember when Elite did not have debug cam - me and many others asked about some sort of beauty shots tool... we were ridiculed as a cod kids, ask to play other games...
And now when FD went other extreme and gave us 3p with hud prety much its all good and dandy?
Call me confused. Make up your mind ppl.

Exactly.
But anyway it's great that the third person view is finally coming to the game.

And then there's the issues regarding wiring that information in a workable state directly into an operators brain rather than going through any holographic interface. There's also minor issues relating to how our ships sensors use thermal rather than optical or radar imaging (it has to be thermal as otherwise silent running wouldn't help unless you want to cook bacon inside the ship). Give us a clearly holographic display such that we can still see that we are on board a ship and are looking at a HUD, and make it provide basic image data in thermal rather than visual, then we might have an argument.

I love Multi Crewe implementation but GUNNER VIEW is embarrassing for a game as advanced as this. I hate it so much I personally will never use it but want this changed to: -

Same Turet View as SRV and gunner can change between Turets.

Let's get this crap magic removed before we even need to BETA TEST for LOLs!

Still I won´t be using multicrew. But I expected something more like that scene in star wars when han and Luke use the turrets while Cheebacca flies the Millenium Falcon

If you're never going to use it, why do you even care?

I think I'd prefer turrets that you actually sit in like that scene but I'm also just as happy with the way Frontier have handled the turret controls/view.

If my PC in 2017 can render something that doesn't even exist, my ship in 3303 can render something it can see from cameras and scanners, so there's no need for silly fake-holographic-thermal effects or whatever you're imagining.

And why are you so hung up on having a picture of a screen inside your monitor? Do you have no power of imagination? Just pretend your actual monitor, with the third-person view on it, is the screen inside your ship. Problem solved, everything is immersive you can stop worrying and enjoy the fun gameplay Frontier have been working on!

Because I paid for developing this as much as anyone and these "magical" additions are cheap and spreading like a disease!

Lol game design via democracy

Let me put it this way, I paid for development just like you and I find everything about this Cool and Good so I guess that evens out!
