Happy New VR Year - the Universal Unreal mod is out!

They said it would be out by the end of the year and by ‘eck they managed to squeeze it in 😁

This is massive for VR users - pretty much all Unreal Engine 4/5 games are now opened for VR with a highly customisable interface. Got a third-person game like Aliens Dark Descent? Attach the camera to the character head, adjust the camera position and make the mesh invisible so you don’t get face geometry in the way, activate 6 DoF controls, and boom you’ve got an awesome first-person VR shooter.

I’m going to be trying out some W40K first - Space Hulk Deathwing and the retro shooter Boltgun will be my tinkering subjects for the day. I’ll also be keeping a close eye on Spacebourne 2 as that’s in the master list of compatible games.

I saw this on YT recently, really looks interesting! I'd say Astroneer would be a good one to try, especially when you get to the planetary core.

Trawling my Steam Library for something else, the other day, I stumbled over the "Titanic: Honour and Glory" demo 401, which has been sitting there for a long time, but never really been launched -- unlike a pair of earlier previews it does not have VR enabled.

Well, a quick UEVR harpoon sunk into the demo later, without any attempts at improving the experience, I was stumbling around the ship at 2-ish frames per second, but holy heck -- they have certainly added a lot. I was quite amazed at how many places I could go (especially after discovering that some doors/turnstiles can be traversed), and at almost all of the detail, fidelity, and lighting; 'kept stuttering around for the better part of an hour. :p
