Has team play ever been tested? I now have a fourth seat. It's already impossible to play as three without running into bugs or design errors.

Judging by how frequently I see people suggest port forwarding, i'd imagine people encounter issues with multiplayer pretty often.
Port forwarding is only part of the solution. You cannot forward ports if you don't have a public IPv4 address and forwarding IPv6 is senseless.
There are 7 billion humans on earth but only 4.2 billion IPv4 addresses.

Frontier should at least care more about TURN servers if they wish to keep it up as peer to peer. Offloading the responsibility entirely to the players alone is not the solution.

They need to stop adding new content and fix/rebalance existing content first. Bad gameplay systems/loops need to be removed entirely and replaced by quality of life improvements.

However, that's not a profitable endeavor for the company or very interesting work to do for the developers. No one likes going back and digging through spaghetti code trying to figure out what causes issues.

The Port Forwarding thread: Minimizing multiplayer connection issues

Given the renewed interest in physical multicrew brought in by Odyssey, and multiplayer gameplay interest in general (player groups, co-op, pvp etc), I thought it could be useful to get a detailed thread regarding how to implement Port Forwarding effectively in our systems. A lot of the info and...

This has been my opinion since day one. Just because you CAN fix things yourself by digging around in files and PC configs, doesn't mean we should accept that as the default. Almost every other game I own that has multiplayer has never needed me to go and change external settings just to make it work at baseline. Only other game tbh that comes to mind is the Halo Master Chief Collection, which is more forgivable since it's trying to port some exceptionally old games while working around old implementations of their netcode.
