Haters gonna hate

This is happening on YouTube, what does anyone expect to do about it by posting here?

I'm out of the habit of watching Frontier ED streams, I expect I'll be back in the habit when information on Fleet Carriers/2020vision is streamed.

In the year of our Lord 2020 there's no such thing as bad.
Bad isn't possible it's always "the haters".
See Twitter for more details.

Bad is subjective, I think peoples pre-purchase research is "bad" and the video game is "good" possibly because my pre-purchase research is "good".

Tuning into today's livestream, I notice there's already twice as many dislikes as there are likes, and the stream HAS ONLY JUST STARTED! This proves a theory I've had for awhile - ED has a bunch of angry "stalkers" that have nothing better to do than tear down the game any chance they get, regardless if it's warranted or not. From what I'm seeing, today's video probably warrants a thumb up. It definitely warrants waiting for it to finish before judging.

It's too bad, because toxic "fans" who seek to destroy everything give those of us faithful fans who have true critiques a bad name. Don't worry, Frontier, I only dislike your videos that are truly cringe-worthy (and let's be honest, some of them have been), and only after I've watched enough to make a sound judgment. If the topic is not for me, I just move on. I wish the "dislike button mashers" would do the same.

Spot on- I'm always surprised by the number of people who take the time to jump on the forum for this game and complain how they can't stand it and how hopelessly broken it is. If I don't like a game, I just stop playing it and move on, Star Citizen being an example. The way I see it, I took a shot at some new idea, and it may or may not work out. I wouldn't actively seek out the forum, register, and then type up posts highlighting my bitter disappointment. Unless, perhaps, I literally had nothing more valuable to do with my time...

I think in the year of our Lord 2020, most can spot that sticking a label on a group and saying 'yah boo' is a substitute for any kind of argument of substance.

Misery loves company.

You realise this thread is about the livestreams?
You can like the game and not the livestreams.

Spite voting is a "symptom" all right, but not of anything being wrong with the video game.

i'm going out on a limb here and say that you are the first in 259 posts to mention "the video game". i admit my research may be not totally thorough. 😂

rule #1: we don't talk about "the video game"!

I've played two other online multiplayer games - EVE and Jumpgate - and in neither case did the developers come in for anything like the dislike that Frontier seem to have acquired. Do FD simply have a talent for attracting "haters", (and if so, how?), or are they doing something to make a lot of people dislike them?

tbh they’ve made some pretty ropey decisions along the way

neither. this thread is about some guy seeing a few dislikes pile up at the first moments of a stream and going all mental about it.

of course everything is connected, and we ended up mentioning "the game".

That ones easy.. a few points did it:

  • They downgraded their community engagement service without informing the community of intending to do so (the current stuff is a hollow facade).
  • Frontier have been shutting down or delaying features and content for opaque internal reasons and have blamed the community for doing so, ie, galnet, fleet carriers, and now interstellar initiatives and cg's.
  • Frontier in actual fact are a B grade developer, who do just enough to disguise the fact but never actually become top class. This is sadly apparent in every single game they've released since elite. The point is, take an audit of how jwe, beyond and planet zoo were released overall. How do we fare for space legs? The only thing we can do is be realistic? Frontier change their spots?
  • Frontier as they are worked completely fine with more personal community management but they stopped that which makes them come acrross as being superior when their output is only a strong B+/A-.

That's it really. Im pretty much out of it anyway as if im going to have something left for space legs its time to reset.

Agreed, but it is best to watch it first. :D
Well I previously mentioned two perfectly valid reasons why you might downvote within the first 5 minutes, which was the time period stated by Old Duck.

Whether those were the reasons I don't know, but neither do you right?

Can't speak of others, but I can't be bothered to watch any of these streams. I am pretty sure this stream was still one of those totally lame, void of content episodes by community managers who don't even know the game or how to play it.

But I can imagine this is a protest against FDev's comms strategy... don't worry, there is still hope. It is much worse when folks, like me, don't even bother to watch the streams.

Oh man, I bought JWE on the reason that it will be a semi-decent game and that I can support FDev. And actually it was up to the point of the totally broken mission system. Broken by design and riddled with bugs.

But now they have cancelled CGs and interstellar initiatives too? Wow...
The thing with Elite that it has shed all the leaders that had any sort of vision for the game. I feel like the core features of the game are still unique and special, having said that, I think the so called New Era will be delayed and broken. I will follow the launch with great interest, but I fear there will be no reason to actually buy it.

What it makes me wonder why the player count (according to Steam Charts) seems to be stable - I guess it is the influx of new players. And I can understand as for them the experience is totally worth it.

Gotta say I do find it quite interesting that people are quick to assume hate campaign when the OP provided no details of :
  1. What time period
  2. How many votes we are talking about - single figures?
And even then we are happy to pretend that there are no valid reasons you might downvote within the first few minutes.
