Hats off to FDEV

Greetings,

Caveat: This is not an 'ED fanboy' post (though more suitably it might be considered an FDEV fanboy post :p)

I've played Elite Dangerous since the Alpha was released at the beginning of the year (though if I am brutally honest it was an afterthought after backing Star Citizen...enough said on that front!).

From the off I have been impressed with the consistency and standard of the updates Frontier Developments have deployed, oh don't get me wrong there has been a couple of minor issues along the way, no one is perfect all the time ;)

That said; I feel it is worth taking a moment and looking at what has been achieved, I don't mean from a game play perspective, but from a commercial standpoint.

To deliver on time (give or take a few days) a polished, fairly bug free update time after time takes some doing! More so given the magnitude of improvements that are seen at each major release!

Anyone who has played any online game in the last 10+ years knows how painful updates can be *cough* EVE online *cough*

I think it is safe to say that everyone at Frontier Developments deserves some recognition for the part they have played (so far) on this journey. Even those lurking in the shadows we never hear about/from.

Keep up the exceptional work and we look forward to seeing what else you can amaze us with.

Fly safe, fly straight and if all else fails use a docking computer....

i think we all cannot say that often enough. i played an hour just now - the progress is staggering. the game is so complex already and so stable. the gfx and sound are incredible, the experience in that cockpit is very immersive.

/hats off

From very early on it's been clear that these folks have the talent and the tech to achieve remarkable things.

And it's shaping up very nicely so far. :)

Well said OP!

Each release just keeps on getting better with more fun options - have still only scratched the surface of Beta 1 too...

Yep, hats and whatever else raised to FD from a newcomer (but not to the original Elite) :D:D

May they live long and prosper ...

I'm so looking forward to start my beta experience today

AMAZING Job by everyone at FD!!!
I can't judge the experience yet but it is more than obvious that FD delivers in a very straight and unagitated (?) way!

Thanks a lot guys!

I've posted on my own clans forums (we're a big world of tanks clan/s spanning over 450 members comprising 6 divisions@80+ players each) about how great this game is.

Our own moderators have started a dedicated section just for Elite Dangerous. So far there's only 5 or 6 of us playing but with the word now spreading very fast about how cool and more importantly stable the latest beta is I'm sure this number will grow exponentially!

Here's to a great Elite future!

Ps I've backed SC immensely as well but I'm so H A P P Y that we have two epic space games in the world, I played eve for 8 1/2 years and ED&SC are what space games should be...inside the cockpit not some 3rd person view!

Valkerie....watch out!

Hear hear!

A number of us will be familiar with those long painful evenings where the dratted thing just won't compile/work/go-green-when-it-should. Why, oh why will my code not work etc.

Well done chaps! :)

I can't rep you which means your post, according to the forums, is not worthy of repping... :(

(PS : Rather agree... have been saying similar things now and then for months :) )

Totally agree and I think the speed that updates have been patched in is amazing. It's just unfortunate that it's far easier to criticise and complain than say something positive.

Well done Frontier and keep up the good work.

Very, very happy old Elite player here. I didn't think it was possible in this day and age.

Thank you Frontier Developments :)

i'd like to rep all here, but can't, as there are rep limits :D

Taht said, I agree on all those positive comments... The FDEVs made an incredible work, art, sound, ... just *thumbs up*.

Never saw so much posts on a gameforum, always thanking and admiring ED!

Let the show go on, as someone said (or sang?) a day... :D

The team is consistent, focused and talented. And the game will also be late by about nine months or so, don't forget that please. ;)
