Have your buying behaviours changed since Arx?

Before ARX I bought 5 paint jobs for 3 types of most used ships, name plates, bullet colour and some clothes only because I was in hype of taking and posting selfies.

Now I just fly around, not seeing the hull anyway, so I don't buy any more.
There are no other pilots to see how I look anyway, so why bother. It's not RPG where all see your shiny cape or golden 2H Sword.

Maybe I'll go for engine colour with free ARX but guess that'd be all.

People already go out of their way to mention how they don't buy anything now that ARX has been introduced, this thread was just another excuse for that.

I know mine have.

At the end of every year i bought a ton of paintjobs. May it be the Black ones from black Friday or Golden ones in the Weeks of December.
This Year i didnt buy any of those simply because of how expensive everything got. If i reach enough free ARX with the daily logins i will probably buy one with those but otherwise ill pass.
Overall i spend only a tiny fraction of the Money i usually spend on Elite per Year even though there was no shortage of stuff i would have liked to have.

Is it the Same for you or did you buy even more since Arx?
I know that, at least in my case, ARX were a shot in their own foot for Frontier.

Have a pleasant day.

Actually now you make me think about it, you're right i have bought less, i found the old shop much more user-friendly and less of a pain to navigate. I had bought a lot before ARX came out though, so perhaps it's just a case of less things turning my eye.

My spending has totally changed to the point where I haven’t spent a penny since ARX became a thing. However, I did pickup some nice paints with my ARX accumulation.

Seeing a physical cash amount that seems smaller, as opposed to a giant ARX number which feels more expensive, even if it isn’t. This has the affect on my brain telling me, do not buy....

This...
Also, I see the free Arx as lure, and I consiously avoid buying stuff. I just bought one 16,800 pack for 11.49€ since September but I don't see myself spendind anymore for the forseeable future.

I bought this and that and still got some Arx left, but I really dislike the fact that I can't purchase exactly the amount I need for what I want.
Lucky for me I am not really attracted to those flashy paintjobs and also don't like any potted plants in my space ships or snowmen or Christmas trees...
I'd have a hard time restraining myself if there was stuff on the shop that would actually fit on, or in, my ships... scientific stuff, antennas, classic grey painjobs and stuff like that instead of silly things.

Each their own of course, but for me that whole Arx thing didn't really affect me because of so little stuff that's interesting for me in the shop.

I've stopped making store purchases since they moved to arx. Before, I knew the value of the items and now I don't.
There's a price right next to the ARX packs. Plain numbers. If you spend $9 on ARX you can't buy paint jobs and accidentally spend more money.

And it's not like the math is terribly difficult. It's roughly 1250 ARX per dollar. If you're really worried about the cost per item you could figure it out, but it's just the flimsy front for a rather petty complaint.

Yes, I used to buy things semi regularly. I haven't brought anything since ARX was introduced.

I wrote this around Halloween:

I thought about looking at getting one of the bobbleheads. I looked at the skull (what is all the Blue stuff on it?) and it says it's on sale for only 4838 ARX. Two things immediately sprang to mind:
1. What the hell does that mean? That sounds a lot to me.
2. I have no idea how much that equates to in real money.

I don't have enough ARX (because I'm an explorer) so I click on the link to go to the shop to buy ARX and there it says that I can buy 5000 ARX for £2.99. If those Bobbleheads were on sale for £2.99 I probably would have brought one even though I wouldn't use either of them (I have the Jack o'lantern and do use it) just because it's only £3. Now I have to pay £2.99 to buy more of a premium currency than I need to buy what I want, I just can't do it. I wasn't really sure how I would feel about the whole thing to be honest, but when it comes to actually going through the process. I just don't want to do it, sorry.

I was quite surprised at how resistant I was to actually buying ARX though. I have never brought any premium currency for a game. And I've never spent anywhere near as much money as I have on ED and Frontier.

I will still buy things with the free ARX I earn (over the years it takes me to earn it via exploration), but I won't spend any money anymore.

Well it's a shame you don't like my reply.

I just think they should have left the old store way of buying stuff directly leaving both methods available . Then this and several other threads would be redundant.

As several have said I think it has discouraged me from buying anything. Maybe I already had everything I fancied anyway though?.. hmm. I think my buying had reduced a bit anyway, though it was always bursty so hard to say. Also there is a bit of me that doesn't want to mess up my arx balance, it's a sort of how much I've played indicator and I don't like upsetting it by spending it or buying extra arx.. bit odd of me but still. Going to have to get over that if I ever want another ship skin!
