having trouble finding stations to dock in

as the title says, i am trying to find stations to dock at but all i get is "docking request denied" how do i find out if i can dock somewhere before i actually leave for that place?

Make sure you are within 7.5 km before making the request.

If you are playing in open at a popular spot, there may not be an open slot at the time. You can change over to solo mode, and then dock, if that is the issue.

If it's an issue caused by the size of your ship (you're trying to dock a large ship at small outposts) then you should be ok if you make a point of only visiting the large space docks. You can identify the size of the space port on the system map by the icon if you have the system data for that system.

If it's caused by your faction reputation, then you'll have to be more careful about which systems you visit.

Its likely the new players influx from Steam clogging up the starter systems, try to fly a fair way from your starting system (25ly+) and you should find the stations less busy.
.
The starter systems are no more safe or geared in any way towards new starters than any of the other populated systems, branch out and find a less busy system :)

ok now im screwed, im out of fuel. what do i do?

Oh dear, now its time to self destruct (functions tab on the right menu) and spawn at the last station you docked at. Sorry...

Hey there :)

I'm guessing you're new to the game. If you really have run out of fuel and are not in normal flying range of a station then you've pretty much only got one option - self-destruct. you'll start again in a sidewinder (keeping any credits you have and with the option to buy back your ship with any modules fitted). To dock, as the post above says, you need to be within 7.km of station when you make your request.

Happy flying ;)

hey um im trying to get further away from the starting systems but i keep running out of fuel and having to self destruct. i cant find any stations along the way or if i do they wont let me dock.

Get a fuel scoop for your ship, and you can refuel from the stars on the way.
But you still have to be a bit careful plotting your route, as you can only scoop from certain star classes (A,B,F,G,K,M,O).

Check out the galaxy map, and set the filters to show you only systems with a allegiance. The map then gets colourcoded, ever system without a colour is "inhabited" so no stations there.

The next thing in order to get a bit further you can keep the "economical" route planning, you would have to make more smaller jumps but the fuel efficency is much better then using the "Fast" setting.

The jumpdrive uses alot of fuel when trying to jump its full range, so small jumps takes you overall further.

Outpost especiall in populated region are mostly overcrowded they really have a only 2-3 docking ports and not even LARGE ones.

If you are unfortunate and you are in a system that is in the middle of a couple inhabited systems. Then the only thing for you todo is trying to get a better jumpdrive to increase your overall range, or in other words you would be stuck.

Had that same problem, i jumped into a highttech system for a new ship. But was stuck afterwards because it was a single system where you needed a jumprange of atleast 12ly in order to get even out.

There is another way to increase your "jumprange" and that is if you can get your hands on a simple "fuel scoop" with those you can refuel at the star aslong its a scoopable star.

hi, thanks for the advice. i cant seem to find a fuel scoop at the station that im in.

Hmm, unlucky. Most stations with outfitting usually have basic things like fuel scoops.
Where are you at the moment? There should be somewhere nearby that has them for sale.

ok forget the fuel scoop for the moment. i accepted a combat mission 'conflict resolution' something about forcing enemies out of potriti. i went to potriti and enter a low intesity combat zone. but all i see is elite navy ships i dont know who to shoot at. pls help

In your right side panel, under Functions tab, you need choose a side to fight for.

It really sounds like you need to visit the newbies forum and read some guides.

Choose a faction (Preferrrably one allied to whoever gave you the mission)

Then half the ships will turn red in the scanner. Kill them.

If you can't choose a faction it's a bug, kill anyone and claim your mission rewards (You wont get bonds).

wow ok ty for that. another question this time about landing. is it bugged? I can line my ship up perfectly (landing gear deployed) guide it in and sometimes it just doesnt dock.

If you mean on outposts, you have to be aligned correctly (nose facing the floating pad number). If you approach from 180 degrees opposite you can still land but never dock.
