Heading to Sagitarius A* - What should I fit?

Is there any way to review all my discoveries? Let's say that I would like to revisit some exotic star-system which I don't quite recall the name, but would, if had access to a list of what I visited.... do I have access to that list?

And delusional as it sounds, It would be cool to have some kind of digital journal of what you have explored, with images (like the system map), and some way to share with friends.

That would be really nice, Junaum! Unfortunately a digital journal of the type you describe does not exist in the game. Nor is there an in-game way to view a database of systems you visited or were the first discoverer of. Maybe someday...

I had a cobra fitted out for exploring, and sold it and bought a Hauler. Get about the same jump range - about 22lys - with the kit I have, but have been able to afford a better scoop which really makes a big difference. Trying to refuel a cobra at 70/sec was a nightmare! The size of the tank on the hauler is a pain though - need to scoop every few jumps whereas the Cobra would keep going for ages.

I'm about half way-ish to Sag A at the moment, in an area with loads of Black holes and Neutron stars. You'll see it on your journey - a big clump a bright stars in the general direction of the core - definitely worth checking out although all interesting systems have already been claimed for first discovery. Think I'm going to survey round here for while and head back though as there should be enough credits in the data scans to get my ASP! I get very nervous that I'll end up forgetting to scoop and jump into somewhere I can't get back from!

There is a tool out there that records your jumps from your log files - however I do have a plan to buidl a tool like you're describing once there is a decent way of programatically getting system coordinates. The data is very limited at the moment and I really want a graphical view of my trips!

Explorer ship = A4 for the FSB is a priority over everything else, period. 200k cr won't buy it on a Cobra. The reason for that is the travel range you can get. You need to beat an Adder or it's pointless explorer fitting a Cobra.

Deep space and you can't repair the hull (and no station to fix anything) = you'll need shields (which for explorer ships is a liability [reduces range]).

There's no threat in deep space if you stay out of signal/nav areas, so weapons aren't even needed, nor the scanners and defensive counters.

Essentially you'll be flying a stripped down shell.

No refinerys. No cargo holds.

That would be awesome! And, probably, a complex thing to achieve (considering how limited access to ED data we have). You have my sword - Let me know If I can help. I have some interface design skills that might be handy.
