Hi, there, I translate English to Chinese, where there are many boxes, this is the font or the problem of coding?
How to solve?

If it was encoding, you could change the xml files encoding by saving it to UTF-8 or Unicode. But as German äöü are supported it probably is the font.

Yes, apologies but our don't doesn't have Chinese characters in it, hence the boxes.

As others have stated, the correct encoding for the xml file should be UTF8.

Cheers

Hi, could you insert the Chinese characters in to the game at the next update version. we Chinese players almost have completed the translation of StringData.xml, but because of the lack of Chinese characters, there are a lot of boxes in the game. It's too sad,:(

Hello there, I have been doing the Chinese translation and almost there...but here are some problems

Planet Coaster didn't put Chinese fonts in the game, so we have to use a modified ovl file to make the translation success.
But the ovl file will be reset after every game update. So.. [that modified ovl file made by some person we don't know who... and we dont know how to deal with this format...]

we have been translated 6000 lines of 9500.. and tested in our Chinese PC fans community - Baidu Tieba.

Chinese fans are making 100% effort to make the game popular in our country, so can you tell the dev team to put the Chinese characters in the game so we can get rid of the ovl thing and use the xml files like others?

Thank you.

Dear Planet Coaster Dev Team andy. Can you increase Chinese font? Then do it translate.

I am doing a Chinese translation.. Simplified Chinese though.

I'm working on the French translation but I don't know how to use the XML.

To download and use someone else’s translation:
1) Download their custom XML file, and save it to: “c:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\Translations"
2) From the Frontier Launchpad, select Planet Coaster > Settings > Set Launch Args
3) Type the following command into the box that appears: -translation <file name>.xml

4) Click Save, launch the game, and enjoy the custom content!

Have fun playing!
what Launchpad ?
I don't have any Launchpad since I play with Steam.

Where do I upload the new XML file ? And what is the manipulation to follow for Steam ?

I tried to change the file named "PirateTranslation.xml" in "\Steam\steamapps\common\Planet Coaster Alpha\Config" but ... it does not work.

Help ?

The Alpha 3 string data can be found here:
http://cdn.gulpeyrex.com/communitytranslations/sourcedata/alpha3/StringData.xml

This is all the English strings used in Alpha 3. You want to save this to the folder that Bo linked to, "%localappdata%\Frontier Developments\Planet Coaster\Translations", and name it something like French.xml. You can copy and paste that path into Windows Explorer to be taken there, or navigate there yourself following Bo's instructions. Within the XML file you want to keep the key xml attribute the same, and just change the value in the translation attribute. Use the Pirate translation as an example of what to change and what to leave alone.

Launch options for games can be set in Steam in a similar way to how they were set in Launchpad. There's instructions here.

Cheers

Hi,

While working on the French translation, I realized that something could be problematic for some translations in the future.
The windows of the UI are not "responsive" (and apparently, we can not resize them manually, at least for now)

- Problem N°1 : Some sentences are cut (as in my example "Coût de fonctionnement mensuel" the "L" at the end is missing)
- Problem N°2 : Some sentences are narrowed ("Ventes manquées le mois dernier" is almost unreadable)

This screenshot shows both problems in a single image :

So you can tell me "just find a different turn of phrase", yes ... but, sometimes it's impossible.
For exemple here, there is no way to say "Ventes manquées le mois dernier" (sales missed last month) without removing an important word.

This is the case in French, but I know that German also have words that can be a little longer than english, and I'm pretty sure it's the case in other languages too.

Thanks for the heads up Angelis. Will pass along the idea of text-wrapping and the idea of dynamic font sizing to its 'block' area. [up]

I started to make a Dutch translation for Alpha 3 :)

Im just wondering if it's smart to do already.
Once the game get's released there will be a new XML file, will it be easy to just update the new things then?

Or do i have to check it again row for row? In that case i rather wait for the full game.
Does anyone has any advice?

I guess a text comparer like beyond compare is helpful, or for free packages, you can use notepad++ with a compare add-on
