Help Frontier with a positive review?

Hello fellow commanders!
When you love Elite, go to the Odyssey Store page and leave a positive review! No need for a long feedback. Your positive rating counts.

With this post I am trying to reach out to one of the most solid player bases... the explorers!
A game relies on reviews... good reviews.
And btw: I am not a dev. I spent the last 24 hours trying to get into game and ending up with the orange sidewinder error. But I experienced 5 hours of Odyssey and I see it IS (and will be more in future) worthwile new content!

Despite all the hate and criticism which is to be expected as a reaction to this suggestion, make up your own mind! Have you enjoyed playing Elite so far? And do you think Odyssey will prove to be a successful improvement within the next 4 weeks? Then write a positive review... this is when Frontier needs us!

"make own mind"
"leave positive review, because yes"
Em, ok.
Optimalisation is terrible.
Some stars are terrible.
Light is bugged.
New UI is terrible.
Old, great surface POIs are annihilated.
Servers still work, welp, not good (but it isn't surprise, few first moment of any big patch/dlc in online games are like this, no blame for it)
Now info from some discord
"PSA: Odyssey brings in new behavior that can lead to loss of engineered modules! When you swap modules from storage to ships, the new default option is to sell the module on the ship. It gives NO WARNING, even on engineered modules, so it is very easy to lose your modules this way. There's a toggle switch in bottom right and it keeps your preference sell old module/keep old module, so I'd recommend checking this."
And this is only top of mountain.
I can write negative review for bad dlc.
I can write positive review for good dlc.
But positive review for bad dlc "because maybe it will be good after some time"?

I can't give a review yet, as I was hardly able to play... Servers were down for most of the time since I bought the game on Wednesday evening...

But from what I have read so far, the devs did not really think about making the exploration user friendly at all...

I had my reservations regarding the Galmap even before the Odyssey, but if they made it even worse? How about the plotting function, has it been improved? Can we maybe plot using multiple intermediate points, so that you can select multiple POI and plot a route between them? How about some better filtering options for the star types? What if I want to only visit G star systems iwth mass index above E? Etc etc... There is a lot that Exlporers would like to see implemented, but so far, it seems that this release is mostly aimed at pewpew players...

And from what I have seen yesterday, when I was playing for just 20 minutes, basically just finishing the training mission offline, the performance in VR sucks big time, giving me 20ms per frame, whereas in Horizons I was making easily around 8ms per frame...

My 2 cents... And I spent my money on this, so I guess I am free to criticise...

The UI changes alone deserve the kicking Odyssey is getting across review sites. And sadly, they're the one thing I don't think will be "fixed" because they're working as designed - unlike most of the other issues which will be addressed with time.

usually reviews work best if being direct and talking about the current state ^^

i love the new planetary tech. but even for my exploration account so many things are not working currently, that i'd write: wait a few months.

the other part of the game i play a lot - backgroundsimulation - had many old bugs reintroduced and broke other things.

i expected nothing else, but my review would be there as well: come back in a few months, as i believe fdev will sort out the most gamebreaking, and others not.

I am an Explorer - and oh boy you wouldn't want me to write a review right now. You don't. Trust me.

What you'd be asking me to is to lie like a sales man. I won't.
I'm not with the FDev Sales Department, Marketing nor am I a board member of their Investor Relations Group.

You're essentially asking us to deceive others when describing the current state of the game. If Frontier's screwed up (and it appears that they have really screwed over explorers in this Odyssey update and changed/broken a lot of things that nobody wanted them to alter), then they need to be criticised for it, not praised. Honesty is much better than fanboyism, especially in reviews.

So... no.

EDIT: Frankly, I found the OP's post so insulting that I reported it as a troll post.

Just.....be honest with a review. Being honest with your experience is valuable to FD even if its tough love.
Agreed.

As Devil's Advocate in this thread, however, there is something to be considered. Anyone who has any experience working with the public (in any capacity) knows full well how customer reviews/feedback work. Angry and full of scorn is the shopper who cannot find exactly what they are looking for exactly when they want it, and if they are not pandered to by staff they might well explode on the shop floor.

This is magnified on the internet by the lack of opportunity to rage in the face of the poor customer service employee who really has nothing to do with the root of the problem and probably can't solve it anyways. It is a simple fact that angry dissatisfied customers are far more inclined to stop and vent their rage by having at a CS rep, filling out a feedback card, or posting a scathing review than satisfied customers are inclined to stop at CS and say well done, fill out a positive feedback card, or take the time to post a positive review.

So no, don't rush to post something untrue to your experiences just for FDev, but if you do like what you see, and aren't one of the Cmdrs experiencing bug issues, then do consider posting an honest review of the positives & negatives. IIRC one of the customer research studies done at an outlet I worked at inter-semester found a 10-1 ratio of negative to positive customer feedback, compared to a near 50-1 positive to negative customer experience. The Karens out there just want to rage (warranted or not), the satisfied (or near satisfied) customers just go about their day.

Are you having a laugh?

Another explorer here, and I can only reiterate what has been said above: as it stands, EDOis cobblers and if they foist the EDO UI etc. nonsense on it, EDH will soon follow.

You're asking us to lie. No. Just no.

I can't (in good conscience) leave a positive review for a game that is basically a clusterf@ck. They've destroyed the UI, scrambled the lighting, destroyed paint jobs, binned off all the ARX I spent on clothing for my cmdr, screwed up the graphics performance, not actually fixed anything from the Alpha, lied to us about what was coming in the release and (as a VR player) completely shafted my game experience.
I think I'm doing them a favour by saving my anger for the forum rather than actually leaving them a public review where it could influence other people.
