Help Frontier with a positive review?

Hello fellow commanders!
When you love Elite, go to the Odyssey Store page and leave a positive review! No need for a long feedback. Your positive rating counts.

With this post I am trying to reach out to one of the most solid player bases... the explorers!
A game relies on reviews... good reviews.
And btw: I am not a dev. I spent the last 24 hours trying to get into game and ending up with the orange sidewinder error. But I experienced 5 hours of Odyssey and I see it IS (and will be more in future) worthwile new content!

Despite all the hate and criticism which is to be expected as a reaction to this suggestion, make up your own mind! Have you enjoyed playing Elite so far? And do you think Odyssey will prove to be a successful improvement within the next 4 weeks? Then write a positive review... this is when Frontier needs us!
Whilst i love elite i can hardly give a postive review for a game that will not even load therefore experience enough to give a review.

Honestly the fanboys and white knights must be having an internal metal down right about now trying to defend what has been a clear cut failed launched of a paid for consumer product, end of.

Not impressed with Odyssey either at this time. From 150+ frame rates in space in Horizons to half that in Elite Feet, having to triple, quadruple click everything to make it work, try the Holo Me - utter disaster zone, ship skins all different colours now, not what they should be, glowing decals don't glow anymore and have changed colour, the terrible new UI sytem... blah blah blah.... List goes on. Underwhelmed at best. Does that sound positive enough?

I didn't end up reviewing the base game Elite until I was ~1000 hours in. I'll let Odyssey bake for a while and build up more play time before I review it, too. I figure that will let me really get a feel for how it works (and how much I like it), so my review can be representative of my experiences with it.

At the moment my review would be "It's a fun but buggy mess, and I am enjoying it", which doesn't really help anyone either way. :D

Frontier deserves the castigation. Odyssey is a pile of broken parts and unfinished ambitions. 40 bucks for (some) atmospheric planets and some shallow, elementary school FPS game play? Seriously? They give FPS shooters away now.

As a bonus, the graphical "improvements" are a step backwards and the VR performance is worse than Horizons. But at least some folks have waited almost a year on pre-order for it; and what makes it better is that EDH and EDO cannot instance with each other...just fabulous.

It's a money grab from all the "we want space legs" fans. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. Oh, and FPS in VR is flat...really great...I mean, H3VR...Alyx...hello? It can be done.

Odyssey is an example of a greedy corporation looking to provide the bare minimum of game in return for the most amount of money people will pay for it.

However, in fairness, I remember when ED came out in 2014. I was a backer from the rip. It, too, was a steaming pile...of something else, but they did slowly improve it over time and it did get much better in many ways. Let's expect - AND DEMAND FROM FDEV - that it will not take seven years to polish the poo that is Odyssey.

OP I notice that after 3 pages of negative replies to your thread, you still havent got a single 'like' for your OP.

Since it seems to be working as well as Odyssey itself, and been received with the same positivity, I have given your thread a like. Because I appreciate the irony and the microcosm it has become.

But im still not putting a positive review out to 'support frontier'.

I supported frontier with a purchase, which transaction has so far provided me with nothing positive but a refresher in maintaining zen in the face of frustration. (I have work for that already, thanks)
It has also broken what i previously paid for and used to enjoy.

Actually that last paragraph seems like the germ of a steam review of my own. I really wasnt going to bother..

Pathetic

When David Braben feels the need to write an apology post, then I think even Frontier have admitted that the launch was considerably below the standard they would like.
While I consider it a positive sign that the noise has gotten into the conference rooms I also have to say that we'll see. I'm done with my complaining. There is only one 'vote' I have that will matter at all and that is time/clicks. If it works, my ISP will provide both for FDs coffers. If it fails to work my ISP won't provide time/clicks. Right now that is the only 'power' any player has, his time contribution. I do wish FD all the luck in the world trying to get both player time and player clicks. The ball is now in their court as I'm doing what any smart consumer would do, voting with my wallet. If it works FD will get some of my money, if not they won't. Darwin applauds.

You're a Dev on a sock puppet account right?... or is it April again already?

People writing positive reviews of a game they've barely played are just as bad as people writing negative reviews of a game they've barely played.

So, I can't give this a positive review, as I didn't buy into legs.

But if I could, it'd be along the lines that NOT having EDO leaves me with a considerably less broken game. And since taking others as a reference point for judging your personal lot seems to be en vogue, I guess I can consider myself be relatively fortunate with this update.

TL;DR: Sucks to have legs.

I've been playing ED since the Memorial Day weekend of 2015. It's pretty much almost the only thing I play now (except for Train Simulator once in a while). I love having my own spaceship and going anywhere in the Galaxy, seeing what nebulas look like close up. I've done mining, hauling, watching noobies try to land on an outpost platform in their sidewinders without landing gear extended, winging up with friends to help chase away gankers. I'm pretty much a fan-boi of ED. I consider myself some of the "solid player base" you seek. Currently 27k ly from the bubble, out past Sag A* heading towards Beagle Point.

BUT, I'm not going to give Odyssey a good review just because. Good reviews are EARNED, not handed out on a silver platter. If a game deserves them, they get them. Horizons started off a little bumpy but things were added, refined, tweeked...after a beta. Odyssey had no beta test, just an alpha. Alpha is "rough." Beta is when you fine-tune things to make sure the issues found in alpha are corrected.

No beta was done in this case. And the results show in the reviews on both reddit sites and on Steam reviews. If you provide a poor product you must expect poor reviews.

I want you to understand - I loved the images I was seeing in the alpha testing thread. I'd love to have it now. But the reviews I'm seeing where people deal with disconnects, frame rates in the high 30's, an apparently "horrible UI" (someone else's words, not mine), etc, tell me that this cake has not finished baking and came out of the oven too soon - it's still a tad mushy.

Right now, Frontier need honest feedback, not false flattery. I like the game a lot but I want it to be better. The devs have some work to do, and I am confident they will do that work. But we don’t need to sell their DLC for them, especially at this time.
This, OP, is what is most important. You cannot give something a "good review" if the DLC does not deserve it. FD will fix it, to be sure, but until they do, don't expect anything but "tough love" for Odyssey.

OP, I want you to read this part of one of the forum threads, just to see how badly it was written and why it's getting really poor reviews. It's not hate of Odyssey, but disapproval of sloppy methods used.

Hope that helps.
