Newcomer / Intro Hey, here I am, can you see me? Mining for hours to provide for my FC?

If you don't like mining tritium, then don't. I have two Carriers now, and I have never mined any tritium. You can buy it.
Not really. Trying to find out how to get something like 15000 in bubble...nope - all empty or extra crazy prices, or no big landings. Not saying about time to get painite to pay out all that.

By crazy you mean 40-50k/ton? That's pretty normal if so since 4k/ton is rare and snuffed out almost as soon as it appears.

The Community Goal that ended last week will upgrade 10 refinery outposts to full size stations next month which will address some of the landing issues.

Glad l loaded up whilst it was plentiful. But once you have a huge stock of tritium..having to mine per jump is no big deal.
I keep all my engineered ships on the carrier. Yes I don't actually need them for mapping. But it's nice to have em there just in case....
Where the carrier shines is handing In data. 5 bill I don't give a hoot about credits.
But l do give a hoot about data and that's the clincher.
Also repairs and having modules to hand for different roles.
I will probably end up in Colonia again helping to keep the peace. Then my carrier will really shine

Btw, doing mining for carrier you will not be getting ARX.
So if you want weekly caps, you still need to do 4-5 days of pure jumping per week.

There's the point, explorers only come back with data. The only way you'll get ganked is to play open. Most explorers who play open do so in the black. On the way to the bubble, they go solo. There is an extremely low risk of losing all the data.

I don't think I've gone solo for many a year, and even when I did it was just for that very last jump into my destination system.

Carrier jumps 50ly. Stops.
I then map everything within 50 ly range. After a considerable time I've mapped stuff found a tritium spot mined 100 ton and flown back to Carrier.
Rinse n repeat.
For each jump with Carrier at some point whilst mapping I would have acquired 100 ton yet only used a fraction to get there. Result is a surplus of tritium amounting to a full hold over many months
Easy peasy...no need to mine for ages. Just once per jump to "pay & save" for the jump.

You'd be surprised to the number of people explorers who go solo, let alone when they come back to the bubble.
The point is most don't reach for an FC now anymore than they did 3 months ago.
Theres easier ways to protect your ASSettes from the griefers than tossing away a big chunk of money.
