High quality classical music options?

How about 'Orphée aux enfers' (also known as CanCan) from Jaques Offenbach or 'Flight of the Bumblebee' from Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov ?

That would be a lovely choice when it's time for the pilot to get of his seat and head for his escape pod :D

Batman theme song is the only music on in my cockpit....

And yes... I drink my Lave dark blend coffee in a batman mug...

I would prefer something a bit more updated, using more modern techniques and sounds. Something that harness the power of the synthesiser in electronic compositions!

Something like The Cinematic Orchestra would be perfect. UK based, available for hire (probably).

Imagine this playing during a beautiful alien sunrise:

Something slightly more traditional for the opening of a new space port perhaps :D

(although, this one would probably be better accompanying your first encounter with alien love )

And perhaps this for deep-space explorarition?

IMO, Frontier should deffinatly hire The Cinematic Orchestra to do their music

Best from Sweden

Hi;
This is my vote for a "uber" classic melody to ED. This is the only "classic" tune that have gone up on the Swedish charts for the last 50 years.

Name: Romance (Pastoralsvit, opus 19), Lars-Erik Larsson

I have got some nice evenings with girls after playing this song. Somehow they don´t like ACDC or Metalica, hmmm.....

Chris Mann?

I wonder if Chris Mann will be involved.

He composed the BAFTA nominated soundtrack for I-War 2 (One of my favorite Game soundtracks) and according to Wikipedia was involved in the Outsider.

Favorite Soundtrack is the Afro Celtic sound system from the original Magic and Mayhem (a lovely quirky fantasy rts/rpg)

SomaFM Ear waves

SomaFM is currently testing a new channel. Featuring both classical and electronic.

http://somafm.com/earwaves.pls

It's the only link right now, soon they will probably add it to their 'official' catalogue with more playback options.

"Earwaves is a collection of new and experimental music from around the world, focusing on but not exclusive to - the experimental side of electronics, new music, 20th and 21st century contemporary classical (minimalists and avant garde), progressive electronics, electro-acoustic, computer music and other mutant art-music forms. The approach is, as Dwight describes it, "ancient-to-the-future" - spanning the complete history of electronic and experimental music from the early pioneers to the latest innovators. Earwaves, a front row seat on the long, historical ride of thought provoking sonic exploration."

And if that's too experimental, on www.somafm.com you will find some other excellent 'space' radio stations, commercial free. Like Drone Zone, Space Station Soma...
