Highly dissapointed

Than you know how hard is to earn cash. specially if you don't play all day every day. what we (combat oriented players) earn in a day, takes trader an hour or two.

In 1.2 we saw vulture (20M later brought down to 5M) and FDL (50M) and corvett and panther are yet to come (around 50-100M I'm sure). So crying about 2 cheap ships is a bit selfish if you ask me.

Welcome to the ED community. :p We're about to get a gigantic free update but people are already 'highly dissapointed' that the two new free ships are different from their desired ships, even though they don't even know *anything* about one of the two ships. :p Or they wont like the new mines, or complain it is unfair you can no longer plow your T9 through Sidewinders anymore, or whatever. If I were FD I'd have 1.4 just be an enforced reset of everyone's saves and force people to start in an F63 Condor with half a tiny hardpoint and a 4 ounce cargo bay.

Just look at the new ships upcoming
Diamondback:Still no official info but most speculations and by the looks of a picture it will be a small ship like a litlle bigger than a hauler probably between ASP and a Cobra which will be = 4-6 millions to buy

What are your thoughts???Isn't there enough cheap ships to use already?
I hoped the Diamondback would be something similar to the Federal Dropship and Imperial Clipper. If not i will be a bit disappointed.

I really wish there is more starter ships, I really enjoy flying in all of them and fighting. It is always huge fun and challenge to take small ship and go out fight big ones, I mean on cmdr vs cmdr. I wish there is bigger challenge to fight NPC's but there is not. NPC's are same easy targets without care about their fighting rank. There should be huge difference at NPC's with novice rank and Elite rank, Elite should be very very hard to kill, it should act like very skilled CMDR. It should never be like you take eagle and take down elite npc in conda. So beside my look for more ships like courier will be, I looking for more challenge in PVE fights. PVE is boring.

P.S. only difference between novice npc and master/elite npc is second ones using one chaff per fight :p

There is a huge difference between Novice and Elite NPC behaviour, for a start - Elite NPC's fight with Flight assist OFF and use PIPS more effectively. If you are looking for a good PVE fight: use a Python, or A Spec Cobra, head into a SSS alone.

No targeting of 1 Elite conda's powerplant, flying circles around it and complaining that the fight is too easy, solo against 2 or more elite ships forces you to fight properly

We need more small and medium sized ships because that's what the majority of folk are flying. Also to be quite honest, flying small ships is way more fun.

I .

This is not true.
They have tougher hulls, better shields and a greater propensity to attack. I take on low end Vipers and Elite Vipers in conflict zones on a daily basis and there's a huge difference between them. The same goes for other ships. Attack a Competent Anaconda and then an Elite Anaconda and see if your claim holds true.

The Orca might have more use when passenger transport is introduced.
I think we need more cheap ships, more mid ships, more big ships, and some even biggerer ships.

I dont think there is such a thing as too many ships.

More cheap ships please, I am saving up for an FDL in a Vulture doing RES sites, based on current speed at a couple of hours a night, I wont get one for at least another couple of months. Every ship needs to be viable for something in the game so more ships in the sub 10M range will let them do this. right now its pretty stupid not to just head for a vulture and stay in that.

OT: to avoid RES burnout, I recommend you get a t7 or Imp clipper and trade from 30M to 70M. It is actually the least painful way to bridge the gap from a vulture to the next class of combat ships(fdl/python/fitted clipper).

3 medium hardpoints and about 15 mills to fully max so no not even near

All in all everyone has their opinions i guess im a bit selfish right here beacouse i want something big and i forget about community that doesnt have like 50-100 millions or even billions in their bank.I do hope next update can give me a corvette tho.And on second look if you give some hardcore internals to a courier it can be a beast.Example A5 PP A6 shields would make it even to any vulture

Bit of a gap in the middle to large range, bridging the gap between 6m Asp or 17 m T7 all the way to 50M (before any upgrades) for the next viable option.
its a big jump.
All above without grinding up the Imperial or Fed ranks, which is my plan at the moment.

As a new cmdr I felt spoiled for choice; the Eagle, Adder, Cobra, Viper and Hauler are all great ships that I couldn't believe I could just hop right into.

Now as a seasoned and more wealthy cmdr, I feel very limited. I don't trade and the conda has no appeal to me (I'm a pilot, not a captain). So that leaves me the Asp, FDL and Python.

I think we need more 20Mcr+ ships. I also think we need more 20Mcr+ SMALL ships - yes, that's right. They're fun to fly and I'd pay top dollar for a stealth interceptor or a something groovy, small and more exclusive. =)

I'm happy with more smaller ships, playing a lot since launch and I'm still saving up for a Python and probably wouldn't have an FDL if it wasn't for my trip to Sag A. I never really focussed on the best money earning tasks when I started and often took my Viper into big risk areas with rebuys putting my financial climb back fairly regularly. Having smaller ships to aim for and mix it up a bit is a good thing. Plus, the FDL and Vulture aren't best at jumping so if I need to help friends 200ly away I'll pop in my Asp, jump over and get an A grade Viper there for 2-3m (still surprisingly effective in a wing with the big fish.) So more small ship options there are welcome for me.

I have approached the game with the expectation that I will be able to play many different roles and not get hung up on just making credits or flying huge ships to blow everything up in sight. ED has not disappointed me, I think the developers have done a great job on balance and the ship choices are no exception. There will always be mistakes in price and power, but ED once again has been quick to try and keep the balance and offer what the players are looking for.

I am sitting on enough cash to buy a Conda. But I prefer the small ships. I will not rest until I own all the little ships. Really looking forward to the Diamondback.

I hope FD finds a way to make extended, bigger PVP conflicts meaningful in some way.

Let's see you losing your anaconda 10-12 times in a single night instead of participating with a smaller ship so that you still contribute.

I think FD adds new ships based on what the majority of players fly.

FD adds ships based on what was originally intended on dec. 16th, release day.
25 ships were planned for release, they couldn't quite make it. All that is happening now is still "catching up" on the original plan.
And that's the misconception, that new ships are added based on anything else but THAT.
The new announced goal, just before release, is now 30 ships.
And before we have ALL of them added to the game, we can't reasonably discuss, if there's too many of one size or too few of another size.
The same goes with the pricing, there are "gaps" because we're still waiting for more ships to slot in.
All these discussion evolve around a very short sighted "here and now" snap shot.
The real status quo is only established once we have all 30 ships, and THEN we can discuss what's missing.

That may be true, but they prioritise certain ships over others. And I can imagine that the sensibilities over what the players would want over something else has been thought of.

They added the Orca, without any passenger missions remotely on the release horizon to this day. I think they steer by their own lights on a number of issues.
