Honestly Fdev ?

No, I'm missing both Trident and Javelin, the HRP and MRP. I would've unlocked them, but currently I'm in Colonia.
I don't have everything unlocked either, because I can't be arsed to travel 1 kLy and back to unlock eveything just for the sake of completeition, but I'll most probably do it once we get a ferry.

So why do you seem to be against my idea of the "I have it all Button" ? You could press the button or spend 10000+ hours to get all the stuff. Your choice nobody would be forcing you to press the button...

You see the problem of lots of people around here is they don't really want to play THIS game because its "grindy", "takes forever", "it should be faster", "its too complicated", etc. but somehow feel compelled to so and so they start the process of changing this game into something else by complaining about lack of QOL and stuff.
What they don't see is that every is different and should have their own quirks, what they don't understand (and the also devs) is that each game will always have a limited audience (that love the game for what it is) and is that limited audience that will keep the game running in the long run, not the casual "too grindy" kind that will jump boat when the next best thing will appear. This happened to more MMO games than I can remember. I would rather a game that keeps true to itself and have little development done to it than another "SWG" in the way it will become another poor copy of some other game to please the "huge crowd" and a year latter will be empty.
Our opinion is irrelevant, with edge cases of relevance.

Not sure if I get this right, but to me it looks like you are trying to change this game into something else by complaining about people who try to change this game into something else by complaining. :D

Ferry is only going to be to one system, isn't it? Like..guardian techs can't all be gotten in a single system.

Might be a good thing, to help guide people who haven't done any of the guardian stuff to "getting started" on it. Right now for newer players, there's really no in game guidance at all. I bet some players that never use out-of-game resources haven't a clue about how to go about getting the guardian FSD booster and with nothing in game really guiding them, don't realize they even want one.

Not everyone tunes into things like forums and reddit, they just "play the game" and maybe look things up as it comes up in the game.

Overreaction seems to be this forum's default posting mode for some people...

400 billion places to go. A megaship that takes you to one. On a schedule, not instantaneously. And somehow this is ruining some people's game?

When the ability to build a personal jumpgate system comes in and you can then go wherever you want with no limits.. then I might agree. But that isn' the case. So this is just another thread designed to push the 'Don't change MY game' agenda.

Oh then you might agree… I may not want this game to be something else but you definetly want another game.

Yeah and unless they've stated otherwise I didn't catch, this'll probably be just how the other moving dockable megaships like The Gnosis work and only "move" on Thursdays during server update. So if you want to get ferried there you have to wait until the correct day, or if you want there sooner fly there yourself.

Look on the bright side. The proposed ferry is so pathetic it can pose no threat whatsoever to your piloting skills.

Assuming this works like the other dockable megaships, it will move during the Thursday morning server downtime. Presumably there will be two of them, one heading outbound from Zende and the other heading back. And as they'll be jumping simultaneously, you won't be able to transfer from one to the other immediately. So if you want to hitch a ride both ways, you'll have to stay in Guardian space for a week.

It will be interesting to see if they later add a service to the other Guardian area, near Sacagawea Station, halfway to Colonia. Halving the distance to Colonia is likely to be a bit more controversial than this. However, they could do it by introducing "somewhere in witchspace" as an intermediate step for such a long journey, so if you play in the evenings and board on a Wednesday evening, you'd have to wait 8 days before you can get off again.

FD: we're going to have some megaships, they can jump occasionally and go a few times further than a regular ship

Community: oh, okay.

A year or so later, FD: we're going to have another megaship, and this one will go on a specific route to one specific star on a specific schedule

Community: THIS IS FAST TRAVEL TO EVERY STAR IN THE GALAXY THE GAME IS NOW DEAD

Besides the basic transport, I hope these megaships will have refuelling and outfitting. Especially for SRVs.

Pretty sure the Gnosis has outfitting (it certainly has refuel and repair), although I can't recall if it has SRVs. I don't expect the new one to have any fewer facilities than the Gnosis, and it may have more.

And on the subject of the Gnosis - I'm pretty sure that was created, at least in part, as a prototype for carrier-megaships. It has not noticeably destroyed the game. On the contrary, its current trip to the distant depths below the galaxy seem to be rather fun, and I'm a tad jealous that I'm not involved.

Anyway, I digress: the Gnosis has not killed the game, nor does its existence mean that FD have been lying about 2020 and instead have put the game into maintenance mode (one of the less sensible notions I've read here of late, and there's quite some competition), but rather that such ships have been in the plans for a long time now. Maybe FD have decided that community-owned megaships aren't what they want, after the Gnosis pilot, or maybe they're still to come after the vote-controlled megaship.

Either way, this is something that has been planned and is not killing or abandoning the game. It's just a bus service.

yes, it has outfitting, refuel, repair - you can check exact stuff on eddb. So do other dockable megaships (the AX Aegis / rescue ones come to mind, plus Dove Enigma). Full list https://eddb.io/station?i=1&r=17072&t=19,21 (though the prison ships mess it up a bit)

You realize that if you really like making the journey "on foot" as it were, you can still do that, right? Nothing's stopping you.

oh no, the grind is less grindy. I've heard rumours of Ram Tah selling the guardian modules without having to unlock them at tech brokers now?

Honestly, good. Things like AX conflict zones shouldn't be gated off entirely until players have done a grind. Having them purchasable at a single inconvenient location to start with and having an optional unlocking process to make them available galaxywide (including at jameson memorial) to make them more convenient (ie. do some work now to save potential work later) is far more reasonable and accessible to people who just want to get out there and blast some bugs.

"sorry you have to do 542565 hours of thing you don't want to do before we'll let you do thing you want to do" isn't fun for anyone. "Here, you can do thing you want to do, but if you do optional thing that's hopefully interesting in its own right then it has a reward of making the first thing slightly more convenient" is far more reasonable and far less grind.

Especially when it comes to OPTIONAL gameplay. I sure wish Elephant Butt Leather was optional (without costing me cold, hard cash). Then I too could focus on being upset about how somebody else plays the game.

Have you tried lowering the field of view slider really really drastically in config ?.
