Honestly Fdev ?

They failed to make space fun so you can't begrudge them a chance to ferry people to the more-fun 'game' ruinsy places? Where they can drive the buggy around and shoot at things.

I mean, come on, we need to get players to the good stuff, right? They could end up getting an FSD booster or something.

Why wouldn't you want players to be able to flock there to have a great time?

Back in the day I used to play a game called Star Wars Galaxies. In the beginning, you had to wait 10 minutes for a shuttle at the main planetary star port in order to travel to another planet. The space port was a hive of players socially interacting, selling their wears, buffing players etc. It's were 99% of players met new friends.

Then the kids complained it was too long. They made travel instant. The star ports soon became barren. A part of me died that day!

Just observing, they're changing the game to be more suited for the people who don't like the current game, rather than extending what's there for the people that do.

There's always going to be a valid counter argument when this occurs.

  • They could add a more extensive tutorial instead of turning it off.
  • They could add valid activities (agency or mini games) to do while you're doing it instead of turning it off.

There's many ways to look at it, but dumb and dumber is changing the game. You can recevive it either positively or negatively.

Are there any people who never posted a suggestion or criticised a certain part of the game? Likewise, who are the people who don't like the current game?
Your distinction between people who like and don't like the game (based on the addition of a megaship or SCA) is completely arbitary and doesn't reflect the heterogeneity of the player base at all.

Thing is, the megaship bus is going to be encouraging commanders to wait around in the same place for a while and get talking. As Jayce MacLeod says above, simply flying there on your own will be considerably quicker than waiting for the schedule to tick over, as it's such a short distance.

They're trying to create communal events. It may or may not work. It may or may not end up with murder boats hanging around and killing everyone who turns up (it will end up that way, let's be honest). But they are trying.

The desperation on this thread to cry DOOOOMED!, and inventing nonsense to back it up, is comical.

Doooom... And what experience is that?

We have been able to check flight plans and hitch rides on Capital class ships for quite some time now, some cmdrs even use travelling megaships as permanent bases. Only difference is this particular ship will be a regular shuttle service to a single destination.

Have been on this forum since Alpha, never ceases to amaze me how a few cmdrs are so set in their ways. The game is not just about the hardcore minority, we can still repeatedly hit that J key on a 65,279ly trip to Beagle point.

How do you hitch a ride on a Capital Ship? All I’ve ever been able to do is shoot their heat relays and make them run away. Megaships though...
