Who cares who should get it first? The intent was for everyone to get it at the same time. Bugs and mistakes happen guys, It is a fact of life in software development at every software development company that ever existed. There was no malice here...no intent to harm anyone.

FD will address the issues and you will be playing soon enough. Go take a Xanax and try again in the morning :)

Hello all
I installed the beta launcher from the main exe elite file. After the graphics shader loads the main menu loads but it will not connect to the frontier servers. I have restarted comp several times. Yet I can't connect to servers. Any idea how to get this beta off the ground?

The state of your toon in the beta is a snapshot from an earlier point (as was stated somewhere before.. can't remember where), so yeah it would be a bit different...

Now i was able to get into the beta and install it but i cant get into the server. my account says it cant connect but my fathers can and my anchor account that i also have horizons on can but not the one i usually play on.

hope this might help some of you all find the launcher info after downloading it to get to the install.

There are two issues currently ongoing with the Frontier Launcher that will make it appear too large on your screen to display the PLAY button:

Running a low resolution

If you are running a screen resolution with less than 810 vertical pixels (eg: 1366 x 768) you may not be able to see the buttons at the bottom of the launcher.

To resolve this, please check to see if your screen supports a higher resolution. To do this right click on your desktop and select Screen resolution or Display settings, from here please try selecting the highest resolution possible from the Resolution drop down.

If you are not able to select a higher resolution then you may have problems logging into the launcher. We are working to find a permanent fix for this but in the meantime you can move or hide the Windows taskbar to reach the login and play options.

This issue should be resolved as of 27/11/15

Scaling on high DPI screens
Scaling is a useful feature on many programs, however this is not a feature of Windows that works well with the new Frontier launcher. However, we can help fix this for you.

Simply locate the Elite Dangerous game launcher, right click, select 'Properties' and navigate to the 'Compatibility' tab. Please tick 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings'.

You can find the .exe for this by searching for 'EDlaunch.exe' using Cortana (Windows 10) or navigating a path similar to the following:


  • [STEAM USERS] - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Elite Dangerous\
  • [FRONTIER STORE USERS] - C:\Program Files (x86)\Frontier\Products\

New to all this, where should I be reporting bugs that I will find?

Two things evident so far are:

1. It would have been great if SRV controls were already mapped to Saitek HOTAS.
2. I cant reboard my ship so ive just been cruising around the surface with nothing in site but a large crater.

That's cool ALL i get is cannot connect to frontier servers. This is starting to get really annoying. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated fellow cmdrs or FD support team.

From now on, I can see I'll be "setting down" for the night when I'm out in the middle of nowhere, exploring.

No more silly "logging" off while out in space. No siree. Set her down, throw all the breakers open, lights off. :)

Okay so turns out I just needed to drive further than the area [] under your ship where you exit then it half glitches back and picks you up.

I imagine this is a server overload issue, give it some time. I know its frustrating but you will get in eventually.

Yea I guess nothing to do but wait. Not fun though please whoever gets into beta post lots of videos up. For those of us stranded in Can't connect to frontier servers status.

I would totally upload videos if Australian internet was faster than a snail.
So far its been controller re-mapping and a lot of "what does this do?" not much flying yet haha

Can anyone help me? I do not really know how to launch elite dangerous from its folder, I usually do through steam. I have nothing on my downloadable contents either.

When i press on EDLaunch it just crashs... :(

Why am I unable to even see this launcher download from their official page? It seems everyone is jumping through hoops to be able to get this thing to download.
