For big releases they should come up with a p2p torrent solution. Waiting 10 - 15 hours for a download is just ridiculous.

Some ISPs throttle p2p downloads to absurdly low levels, so this would end up being worse for some.
My download is currently alternating between 2 to 6 days to go.

Oh, they're using AWS? No wonder! Yes, AWS are absolutely awful! The trouble is while they claim to have an auto-scaling cloud solution, it doesn't scale until AFTER a problem has already started, and it takes time to spin up new server instances in the cloud, so at the end of the day it actually offers no tangible benefit to most companies trying to prevent overloading during peak periods.

Yeah that would explain the server issues over the weekend with all the new players coming in.

I was getting the "Server refused to provide installer: Not available". so I decided to try & install the "Elite Dangerous-Ships Beta (1.5) - 64 bit" first. This installed ok but when I tried to play it is says "Can't connect to edServer: Your client is to new" and when I went to Install Horizons The INSTALL button had been replaced by a "PLAY" button but when I click on this NOTHING happens. OH Well I'll just have to wait & try again tomorrow.

Hi to all, seen that someone is dowloading and even better... however... I can't download from the launcher even if it reads horizon (2.0) etc. but I can't even find the right downloader on the store. Is it normal?

The issue with people who managed to download the 64bit build for the Horizons beta (you can check by looking in task manager while the game is running and look at the exe name), but weren't getting Horizons access should now be fixed if you log out, close the launcher and then log back in again. This issue would have affected people with Alpha and Premium Beta access.

We're still looking into other issues in particular the server not allowing the installer and cases where the wrong client was downloaded for the Horizons Beta.

You should find it in the Ed launcher. It is downloading at a normal speed so far.

Cheers MB. Any idea were to buy the various bits of kit needed ie the suite and srv hanger etc, as many players are saying they can't see any for sale?

Still doesn't work here, just tried this, getting, "Server refused to provide installer: Not available", but I noticed that my downloadable info on my account on the frontierstore says I have one more item then I actually have, and beta launcher doesn't show there, could it be that beta access isn't registered correctly?

Beta only for 1.5 and the 64 bit 1.5 and 2.0 builds.
