It's always the same with developers. If they say "Wednesday", it will be all hands to the pumps on Monday, unforeseen catastrophic problems found on Tuesday, silly excuses made on Wednesday, belated apologies given on Thursday and (fingers crossed) delivery on Friday.

So today is the big day - and tomorrow we should find out why it can't possibly be delivered until next Monday :)

I hope it doesn't come out until next monday - I lugged my gaming PC away with me this week with the intention of having it available for the Horizons beta. Now I'm wondering if I should take it back home again at the weekend in case it comes out on friday :-(

A monday release would be ideal ;-)

no I don't think so.
I saw it first on facebook provided by another fan , it would have been so much nicer if released by FD them selves.
via mail or FB is so much more personal , these little things matter allot for public relations.

you know lots of people are very eager to test this.
simple communication keeps allot of fans happy.

Listen, mate. It's not a release date. It was a target date for a beta. When initially announced on the livestream it was earmarked as the *week of* the 23rd with the proviso that, as with all development targets, it could slip.

It was then warned two days ago that it would likely slip as 1.5b had slipped half a week and compressed the time they had available.

At 10pm last night they announced it had definitely slipped.

Frankly, that's good communication. It's fair and it's reasonable. They promised nothing bar release by Christmas.

NOT VERY GOOD.... And I'm miffed because I cleared my diary, wife and kids to give me all of Tues, Wed & Thurs (day & night) to play the damn thing. It's a VERY good job that I'm hooked on Elite-D and can't wait for Horizons. But, It's still NOT a good PR move from yourselves............................. blah blah blah!!!!!

At least it's only a few days (allbeit, probably a week or more before I can organize a decent run of it). But I'm still not happy, especially after paying extra to play it on the 24th.

One extra point, no-one has stated how long the beta is to last. And, I'll tell you this, if it turns out to only be until the weekend or something stupid like that, then I'd go from being miffed, to VERY VERY MIFFED OFF!!!
