Horizons Horizons Detail FX

Soon as I get home today I'll take some screenshot as well because I created a nice profile settings as well using Reshade & SweetFX, I like to call it Horizons Enhanced. Btw, what are you using to take screenshots? My game crashes a lot with FRAPS so I don't like to use it.

Cool i'd like to see it for sure!

Screenshots are taken with print screen when running reshade, saves the pictures to the game directory (same location you put the reshade files). Comparison screenshots are easiest done by switching the 50:50 splitscreen option on in the bottom of SweetFX.txt

Check the following location. This likely has values init that are over riding your graphicsconfiruragtion.xml.

C:\Users\(YOURUSERNAME)\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics

GraphicsConfigurationOverride.xml

Thanks Malek. Now the hud color is back to original. I never suspected that you can also use that file.

Running Windows 7 64bit. The only error I get is the Elite:Dangerous Executable has stopped working. And that pops up before I get to any of the splash screens or loading screens.

Still not really sure tbh :(

It could be you need to replace dxgi.dll with d3d11.dll. I know in the past that changing this extension file has worked for me, if you use another preset that works try using the files that came with that and just replace everything in the Reshade folder with everything in the Reshade folder from Horizons Detail FX. Worse case have you tried validating your files? ensure reshade folder is deleted after validation the reinstall Horizons Detail FX from scratch.

Yeah took me a while to figure that one out originally, its a very handy file to tbh if all you mod is the GUI colours. It generally doesn't get touched by any game updates.

The detail in those initial pics is staggeringly different, is this just an example of dumbed down graphics for console purposes ?

It looks such an easy setting/detail to change to make the game look much improved.

Thanks for posting this commander, I don't have a particularly powerful rig.

Running a AMD Phenom II X4 945 Processor 3GHz, W7, GTX750.

Working great for me, most settings on high, no issues.

Thanks OP - loving the additional terrain detail this gives :)

Out of interest, do your ReShade settings include AA (so would you recommend to disable any MLAA/SMAA etc. in the game's own graphics settings?)

thanks

Cool, glad you like it!

Both FXAA and SMAA are disabled in this preset, but with good reason, I found enabling them reduces the crispness of text within the HUD, so good for screenshots but not so much for gameplay :) I have SMAA enabled in game and supersampling at 1.5 instead.

Love it! Thanks, OP.

Can you make it available with default HUD colors too (You mention that it uses your HUD colors?)

Just open the GraphicConfiguration.xml in a notepad, find the "GIUColour" line. Under "Default" there are three lines. Change them to this:

<MatrixRed> 1, 0, 0 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 1, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0, 0, 1 </MatrixBlue>

Very nice, they should add those graphics settings to the game.

The default colors aren't very vibrant.
