(my emphasis)

Ok, so I wasn't aware of this. In that case is there a way to return the Steam keys and go back to just being a Frontier Store customer?

As far as I'm aware no there isn't, unless you purchase a new copy of Elite and set it up under a different email address/login. The confirmation of this was added to the first post on the main thread about it in June.

Any news on what rankings we'll need to buy the Corvette and Cutter ? I'm Viscount, and it would be so nice nice if I could buy a Cutter on day one :)

Rear Admiral and Duke respectively, I think.

To play with the Valve/HTC Vice, will our game have to be linked to a Steam account, or can standalone EDH talk to the VR headset independently of Steam?

Either. Standalone is fine. It works now.

If people still do not get the development process of the game, then they are beyond redemption.

True, and I guess my post didn't make it clear that I think labeling Horizons release as "early access" is a good move. I think it's a great idea and I do hope it sends the message. My fear is exactly that reviewers might not "get it".

Nothing more FD can do at this point I guess.

Also a round of applause to Frontier for the POI implementation in Beta 4. We need more of this kind of immersive mechanics, and less of the opaque ones like USS. Here's hoping!

And to do my own "cathargo delenda est": Exiting Supercruise should have a transition involving movement, to better disguise it. Please :)

Let me get this straight...

In STEAM there will be an entry for

Elite: Dangerous

and then a separate entry for

Elite: Dangerous - Horizons

Right? Basically STEAM is going to show them as 2 separate games? If so, why? Why not just have Horizons added as a DLC to the existing Elite: Dangerous game instead of making two entries (therefor splitting tracked game time, screenshots, etc...)

Perhaps I've misread/understood what was said but it makes no sense to me to break it up into two entries when you have a custom launcher that can do the separation work for you and not break it up into to different game entries.

I obviously can't answer all those questions and I'm not sure if you'll truly know until Horizons is released (unless a dev does answer), but Horizions isn't DLC it's an expansion. Same as the way all of the Half Life expansions are "different games" in Steam.

Just a question in general how manny seasons will there be ?
and wil the last season be on mister Brabens 65th birthday?

Well they said they have a 10 year plan...

Do we have the choice of playing 1.5 or Horizons, if we have access to both?

I have the lifetime pass, but my current machine is below the Horizons min specs; so I'd love to play 1.5 normally and give Horizons a go when I want to see how it's looking. Can we switch back and forth?

Great news, Happy Christmas to you too! :)

Bumpity bumpity... [[Scarab repair]]

Does anyone know the answer to the above - will Lifetime pass owners be able to select 1.5 or Horizons to play, once both have been released?

Wow i think there are some gamebreaking bugs and needs to get fixed... After the the last few month and the handling with 1.4 (no patches and massive bugs till today) i don't believe that this is a good idea!

I really hope you guys know what you are doing!? After Horizons release the game needs a lot of care not like it was with 1.4!!!!!! I hope you aware of that....

Oh my goodness... it's crazy but good luck to all of ya.

A little off topic... but after the release to PC on the 15th, will the team be focusing more with horizons and xbox? Is there any, unofficial, release to xbox? 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 4 months, early 2016, mid 2016 late 2016, etc?

Thanks and great work!

Mixed feelings. Nice to get it before xmas, BUT... let me refrain from posting this "You Are Not Prepared!" soundfile, but that's what I believe, Frontier.

I am in the Beta and I already worried over the past days, this might not end well.

Wow next week, simply amazing.
I expected for this to be released last straw of 2015, certainly not the 15th. Awesome!

Thanks David. I think calling it Early Access in very bold letters important, based on the apparent number of remaining issues/bugs and optimizations still needed.

I am rooting for great sales so the fantastic work of the genius devs at FD can continue and I can continue pottering around in an amazing 1:1 recreation of the galaxy at my leisure. The Horizons update is very cool work.

I only wish I could give you $100 MUSD, fast forward a few years and then play for about 6 months straight! I guess with patience we will get where most of the player base wants the game to be.

Cheers!

No you are incorrect it updates the launcher NOT the game.

- - - - - Additional Content Posted / Auto Merge - - - - -

It's only the launcher that updates through steam, the game has always downloaded from the frontier servers through that launcher.
Then why are there depots with the game content in the Steam database?

For comparison: Star Trek Online in fact only has a depot for the launcher in the database.

[Horizons]

Most likely. ED and EDH have separate entries in the Steam database. Unreleased DLC and/or expansions normally are listed first under the entry of the main game.

You did what I was going to do, fed up with people thinking they know the answer to everything when they clearly don't. This is why I love having ED on Steam, I get a solid 16MB/s down from the steam servers. When updating from the Frontier servers, I'm lucky to get around 800Kb/s, this is with no firewall or anything conflicting installed.

Edit: Kind of annoyed it will be two seperate games. Nevertheless, still excited for launch.

1.4 CQC is not part of te main game and is not game braking to the main game there are 2 betas 1.5 and horizons both are being tested .

1.4 brought a lot of bugs to the main game and they're still existing!
Have you ever played the current beta? I don't think so... there are plenty of game breaking bugs at the momemt and thats a fact. Sometimes i have the feeling that the QA department don't do their job like they should...
