Whenever it comes to names... i always make stuff up... ships, characters, whatever, but the probs aren't unique by any measure.
Krait MK 2: Fury
Imperial cutter: defiant
Anaconda: Interjector
Asp E: nautilus
Pythons: Jacka, Jaguar, Vigilant, PyTaxi
EDIT: I once had the unfortunate luck of drawing up a character for a mates D&D campaign... selected a build, drew up a fairly complex backstory and everything... showed it to my mate who said "... isn't that just one of the example characters from the player handbook?"
Sure enough, with the exception of a couple minor attributes, I'd come up with a sample character from the book... race, class, religion, backstory, even the name. All the same.
