Hostility between certain mindsets aka antagonistic v co-operative play - a short point of view

We have not removed ourselves. We killed them all in the kill or be killed. No wolves in my village, no bears either. We faced them (Historically), killed them and took the land. We won the kill or be killed not removed ourselves from it.

To eradicate large predators you just scatter some lumps of meat around a carcass. The meat lumps contain a thin piece of springy wood sharp at both ends held in a rough hoop with dry grass. They should be just small enough to be eaten in one gulp to prevent chewing by the target carnivores. Once in the stomach acids the meat and grass are digested but the wood isn't and the hoop springs open, horrible death by peritonitis follows slowly.

No tools involved it predates record keeping, education, organized society, maybe farming and there's no strength or fighting required it's the sort of easy job you'd give to kids.

I leave my growth mind set for things of actual value.
Like work.
Like 4x4 driving in the bush.
Like playing guitar with my wife.
Like learning a new language or picking up a new book on science and philosophy.
Like hitting the gym and going for a pb.
Like finding a new trail on my mountain bike.

Im 47 tho. So everything is pretty casual. Mostly still hobbies, lifes too short to treat everything like some misguided Conan story.
My mountain biking is bimbling along.
My pb bench press is 60 kilos.
I know 4 songs on my guitar.
I drive an SUV.
And i cant do math, let alone astrophysics, and my philosophy of choice is to let go and enjoy my time here. Im blessed with a good life.

So Enjoy It.

Elite is just a computer game. I enjoy it. I enjoy tootling about in space. That's about it.
I dont begrudge other players who want that pvp challenge. I just dont want to play with those kind of players. Unless i boot up an FPS like BF 1

How many times do we have to point this out to you guys?

Its not about mindsets. Its about what an individual player chooses to do with their time, in a game they bought, that offers a range of gameplay choices and styles.

The game itself is mostly designed around cooperative pve.

Sometimes the Lion has to accept that some herds of zebras are actually in a protected conservation area and to look for your kills elsewhere.

Interesting post. Well thought out, I like it.

Personally, I love the huge skill gap, and I have absolutely no problems with zebras being hunted down by lions, and the strong consuming the weak. That is a fact of life..

I honestly believe that we need the "murderers" and "griefers" in the game.. They add a complex dynamic to the game and ultimately add drama, which can be both a good and bad thing.

The problem isnt the people, it isnt the lions and the zebras, or anything like that. If you go into the wild, then you damn well better be prepared.. You need to learn how to toughen up, and face the challenges head on.

The problem is that there are no boundaries... there is no wild... the wild is everywhere... As soon as you exit the mailbox.. hell, even before you leave the mailbox your prey for any crazed psychopath wanting to get a fresh kill for no other reason other than to cause misery.

Using the OP's analogy, its basically allowing the hungry wolves into the maternity ward of a hospital and letting them run wild. Sure there are some security guards running around with tazers trying to chase the wolves away, but lets be honest here, they are completely ineffectual.

The wolves, lions and other predators need to be contained in the wild where they belong (anarachy, low security systems) while the Suburbs and Cities (High Security - Medium Security) remain relatively safe.

Sure, the predators can enter the cities and suburbs, but it should be just as equally dangerous for them as it is for prey to enter the wild.

Balance is what is needed, and right now we dont have that.. The predators are free to do as they like with little to no consequence.

We need predators.. We need danger, there needs to be a strong element of risk, but it needs to be balanced out so that the prey can find safe harbour when they need it.

And in order to drive prey into the wild, then tempt them with missions offering lucrative rewards for venturing into these areas.. Post CG's into Anarchy space and High security space so that players have a choice of either playing it safe for less rewards, or taking a big risk for higher rewards.

In the end it just makes so much more sense. It offers a place where everyone can play their playstyle, and offers better gameplay and rewards for everyone.

Or I can just play the game I want, fly what I want, equip what I want, and do what I want in Solo.

Waaaaaaaaaaatttt....? Anyone who posts this :

In my point of view, there is neither positivity (sic) or negativity. Wheatehr (sic) it is +1 or -1 ... it is still a 1.

Either is writing a parody post or has the mental prowess of a potato. Nothing in the OP is well thought out. It starts by poisoning the well then goes from there into the analytical capacity of a first year college student.

And this is something I find surprising. "Weak" players in Elite (which doesn't mean they are weak in person ... but a T7 may not stand a chance vs a Python ... this definition of weak) simply do not avoid the "strong" players, they actually even run right towards them.

I guess in this respect, CGs and popular systems are kind of like the "watering holes" of ED. Anyway, yes, there is a skill gap, but unfortunately, engineers also added a grind gap that made the whole pvp situation even worse.

I would like to see more gameplay that involves our human power of problem solving on many more levels than currently exist.

Scenario:-

A station requires quantities of commodity X to do something. Station will pay well over the odds for commodity X with a bonus per tonne you deliver.

Problem:-

System is full of well known bottom hats with super duper ships with little to no mercy, and generally no sense of humour or style.

The largest ship you own is a T7, you have some engineering mats (you think) you have collected on the way, that may or may not be useful.

You are (self) limited to Open play. For extra masochism you have self imposed Iron man mode.

You have 7 days to get into the top 10.

PLAYER READY!

is that what you mean? If so, I play this game practically every week.

While CG gameplay IS fun, the game over time seems to take the early-stage risks away without creating many further survival challenges except for ones you make or seek out yourself. As fun as it is to make your own fun, it's also nice if the game you're in at least makes a good effort to help you make that fun.

This is my biggest hope (not expectation) for upcoming development, that we can have more agency and consequence to our actions in the galaxy with more interactivity with the game systems themselves. I can't become a notorious criminal to the game itself for example, because there's no overall notoriety tracking and not much credible law enforcement to come get me anyway. Currently only other players would truly notice a spree of evil, and only if I could catch them or poop a mine onto their landing pad.

We have all of the known galaxy out there, should be room for some more challenging events and scenarios than we've got going on right now.
