Hotas Thrustmaster - worth it?

Well, that is interesting..... I just got a HOTAS.4 just for ED.

Mrs. Carbide is gonna be peeved about this new unfunded requirement. Wonder when this new stick will be available... I need a plan to convince the Minister of Finance an Recreation of this most urgent need.

Damn!

Tell her your gonna quit gaming and play golf and that all you need is a couple of thousand for start up. LOL

That won't go over well as I was forced in playing in a previous life. She was not a happy camper during those days of playing soldier.

I appreciate your idea, but it would escalate quickly and she will win .......... in the end....

Ya' know.... Fathers day is coming up..... That just might work in my favor... [hotas][hotas][hotas]

The pc crowd don't seem very impressed with this reskinned hotas lol :D they keep mentioning the xbox although it reads as pc only on the thrustmaster website?

It's also early! :)

Frontier are there with thrustmaster this year but it sounds like it's to show off a new hotas for pc.

No PS5 though :D

Haha, yes, and I'm sure glad about that! Having watched some of the demos for Xbox One X, I don't think PS4 Pro owners have anything to be envious of. I personally like many of Sony's exclusives way more than Xbox exclusives, ED being the only exception (and that ends SOON).

Oh, and no PSVR for ED either, not that this comes to a surprise to anyone after reading that article you linked to earlier.

Just downloaded war thunder last night and hit it with the HOTAS!

OMG - i hope its easier flying in ED than in war thunder - couldn't hit a flying barn with both doors open!!

It is thankfully :) it's the sensitivity and recoil that throws you in warthunder, the actual flying side isn't that bad.

It's got the worst UI I've ever used tho lol!

Definitely this. I keep adjusting the stick sensitivity on the fly (see what i did there), but as the adjuster is on the bottom of the stick i have to turn the stick upside down and fiddle - which does wonders for my flying / crashing skills.

The throttle is beautifully easy to use i have to say and it will stay in any place i put it whether that's 50% 90% or 30% so that's great and good news for ED too. But the continual 'return to centre stick' activity is hard work... especially if you're trying to shoot a banking target while you are also banking and / or accelerating... i am now slightly worried about ED and my ability to fly 'properly'. Suppose i should give Warthunder a go with the DS4 and see if that's any better / worse or about the same...

I found it just as bad on ds4 tbh :/ oOlite on my potatoe pc was a much better test and the stick performed excellent on that once configured! :)

Having tried War Thunder, I really do not know how it survives. It has a horrible interface and the flying was terrible. (how it managed to the both overly sensitive and unresponsive at the same time is beyond me) I deleted it less than 15 minutes after first trying to play, and most of that time was trying to find how to swap from DS4 to HOTAS controls.

Now, maybe flight pedals and spending time adjusting the control sensitivity etc. might address the issues I had, but if the out-of-the-box settings are not good enough to at least *try* to play the game then I'm not going to waste my time on something I'm not enjoying. ('scuse the rant)

When I first downloaded it, just to make sure my HOTAS was working on the PS4, I rage quit and deleted it because I couldn't even find how to change the control method to the HOTAS...
