Hours and hours attempting to get a Thargoid. Nothing.

So you don't want your own personal story line but you want to experience the first thargoid encounters yourself. Sorry, that doesn't add up for me.
Oh, I'm must have been mistaken. You see, when FDEV put that content in the game I thought they wanted more than just one or two people to see it. No, you're right, they clearly spent alot of time making this content so only a very select few could experience it. No I see now. I'm super greatful that the smart guys like you can show us stupid people how the game is meant to be played. Hey, do you have some time in the next few days? I'd love to chat a bit about what content plebs like me are meant to partake in.

There's a difference between making my own story and choosing things I'd like to see and do in this game, and asking FDEV to craft a "personal storyline" for me. I'm sorry that you can't seem to wrap your head around what I'm saying. Let me be as clear as I can be. I'm asking for certain aspects of the game to be fleshed out in a more interesting way than "sit at this spot and wait for hours or days if you want to experience this content". I said nothing about personal storyline, you did. How about you take my criticism at face value rather than trying to put words in my mouth.

I'll talk to you again when you stop being so passive aggressive.

How about we just not talk to each other again. I'll be over here posting my feedback to the devs and trying to ignore everyone trying to shout down any criticism.

See, this is the problem. I am not trying to shut down criticism. I provide lots of it myself. I would even agree with most of what you are saying. It's just that you are unable to understand what I am saying.

1. I think you are still mad because I called some suggestions stupid. Well it wasn't related to your posts and if you would actually read my post you would understand that. I was referring to comments that ask to make hyperdictions more frequently. And I said so...
2. I agree with you that the unknown probe is the weakest part of the whole story, there is literally no way to find one unless you refer to out of game information. And even if you do it's still a PITA.
3. #2 is the problem with the complete story line. It's almost impossible to advance in it being alone only referring to in game information. This is why I believe this part of the story is indeed supposed to be only experienced by the few for the time being. It's possible that this will be changed in the future, but currently you are wasting your time if you want to experience all of it on your own (=single player story campaign) in my opinion. And there is nothing wrong with asking them to make it more accessible in the future.

To the people that say they have been flying around forever trying to get a hyperdiction:
Have you been flying around with or without a UA? Because so far, from the people I have spoken to on these forums, most people that have a UA in their cargo do get Hyperdicted.

Of course you can just pick several UA's up off the ground at:

HIP 17862, planet 6 C A
Coords: 30.3398, -98.5876

Handy for getting the unknown fragments for Prof Palin as well. (Once you find out they come from UA's, is this info in game at all?)

There is even a tourist point above the planet "celebrating" the wreck, the real shame is unless you know the Coords there is no in game way to find it... It would be nice if you scanned the tourist point and a POI appeared on the planet for you to go to..

In fact add in game information sources for a QOL in 2.4 please... We shouldn't have to meta game to "know" in game knowledge.

Both options ticked, no Thargoids......it's a hoax!

Take over all your clothes. Smear yourself with delicious treacle and shout 'I AM THE THARGOID QUEEN! COME TO ME MY PRETTIES!'

Works every time, but you must make sure that the curtains are open.

(no, I've not seen one either, yet)

Wrong. I tried this last night

I'm mad. You willfully misrepresent other people's points and then make bad faith arguments against them. The points that you can't easily caricature ("button," "single-player storyline", etc), you simply ignore. And then you make sweeping declarative statements that people's opinions are idiotic, when you haven't even engaged with them and don't really seem to understand them. Or even *want* to understand them. And then when people call you on it, you accuse them of being mad or passive aggressive or otherwise disrespectful. Not fun.

Nothing of what I said in that regard was aimed at someone specifically. And yet people feel offended by it. Sorry but that isn't my problem. I think adding a "hyperdict me" button would be stupid. What's your problem with that?

BTW
I didn't even made an argument against him, he just quoted me for no reason.

These forums are toxic.
1. Some people come here just to troll and spout vitriol at FDEV because they don't like they game, but can't be bothered to explain why.
2. Some people don't like certain aspects of the game and come to offer feedback. Almost without fail these people get called "special snowflake", "whiner", "stupid", someone who just wants an 'I win' button, or are just generally shouted down.

I'm actually done with the game. I'm completely fed up. Elite has the potential to be my favorite game of all time if it were fleshed out more, but there is enough of the core game that feels disjointed and undeveloped that I struggle to maintain enjoyment over the long haul. I know that they are gonna be working on polishing up the core game after 2.4, but everything they are doing lately has me worried that FDEV are gonna take it in a direction I don't like. I feel like recent things have been poorly thought out and lazily implemented - empty time-fillers, non-interactive cutscenes that are all hype and no substance, a bit too heavy on the grind and RNG for my taste. Despite major bugs being pointed out and acknowledged in the betas, FDEV release it anyway with a "fix it later" mentality, but many of them still haven't been fixed and have no indication that they ever will.

It would be nice if players felt like they could come to these forums and give feedback without getting trolled, laughed at, shouted down, etc. It's been made clear since launch that is not ever gonna be a thing on this forum.

So I have a game I'm frustrated with, and no way to give feedback without toxic forums. I give up.

I got 23 hours split between barnacle camping and efficiency jumping around Aries dark region, including the brief period of the E3 CG where encounter chances were rumored to have been increased. Nothing. It's probably because I'm a save-the-princess low attention span fast-food gamer who wants everything handed over on a silver platter. Or possibly because I don't have a YouTube or twitch channel. Apparently if you have a YouTube or twitch channel you're guaranteed success within a maximum of an hour's effort.

Can confirm.

Idk in about 8-10 hrs in Barnacle harvesting for the CG, I got to enjoy the Thargoid "light show" two times. But there's no way of triggering it, except being there. Probably havesting Barnacles and resetting the instance to get fresh MAs helped a bit, it was about 15 instances per run to fill the 72t ASP

Pretty frustrating RNG youve got coded FD. MAYBE, just MAYBE would you go ahead and up the % chances like, lets say, 1000%. That way, maybe, more people can get an counter to spawn.

I got Interdicted on Tuesday night 11/7/2017. I was searching for an unknown probe in the pleiades sectors. I had found an Ancient Artifact, Black box and Unknown Atrifact. I scanned the unknown artifact and I got interdicted on my 4th or 5th jump from finding this on route to or from (best possible choices) either OnT c3 12 2 DQY C0 A5 or IR W D1 55.

If you go here http://isokix.space/unknown-probe/ I was following all these possible locations, so to be fair It could be either of them but definetly one of them

I've seen two suggestions in this thread on how to address "the issue".

1. Increase the likeliness of getting hyperdicted.
2. Add a button (mechanic xy) to force hyperdiction on us.

Both suggestions are UTTERLY stupid. In fact it proves how FDEV is way better at story telling and game design than this combined community. Suggestion 1 would be annoying and bad story telling, suggestion 2 would be unrealistic and bad story telling.

Maybe FDEV underestimates their fans. It's more likely that people on this forum overestimate themselves though.

Just because something solves an individual issue it's not necessarily the best for the game.

It could well be that every so often the chance of a meeting is increased - making the chances of an encounter more likely the closer we get to a full on invasion. As for not getting to see them or feeling entitled to see to have an encounter is a bit like saying I should have all the hidden treasures in a game because I played through it once.

What you say is bad story telling I could point to and say it is replicating an increase in the scouting they are doing as a full on conflict grows closer. You say it would be annoying to have the chances increased, why? Who would it harm if the rate was increased slightly over time?
