How did you die - Tell your story

I was killed by an NPC in the final moments before launch at the beacon. Unfortunately I was carrying rares (Hutton Mugs & Centauri Mega Gin) and if there was any warning it was lost in the sea of text rapidly scrolling up the comms panel. I suddenly realised I was being shot at and not knowing whether it was an NPC or commander, I tried to log out, but the 15 seconds counter gave plenty of time to get me killed. I was in Fleetcom PG so before hitting rebuy the logs were checked as I'd missed the death screen for any names.

...somehow, I don't think this reflects well on the collective [blah]

Dropped out of Witchspace at WP2 with my unarmed Phantom and have been murdered within 5 seconds by a ganker wing of 4. I simply forgot to switch to Solo / Mobius (FleetComm request didn't go through still, after the 3rd try). Lost all my discovieres - my bad for beeing in the wrong mode of course.

Gankers are swarming these last couple days. Going to be a long weekend with them hanging around in open.

Finally arrived at Omega Mining Operation after taking a fairly slow pace fully mapping every system I went to (not surface mapping as too time consuming)

Exited SC at safe distance at Omega Mining Operation and suddenly ship started spinning and got message 'eject eject' then died.

Only thing saw was asteroids, so not sure if for some reason it dropped me right in the asteroids surrounding the station.

Not impressed as was only docking to sell the 130+ system scan data I had collected.

Was in Solo mode , so unlikely to be another player and did not see any other ships, and log just shows hull damaged that lasted couple of seconds before I died.

Have put in ticket as would like to know what caused the ship to explode (in case it was a bug). Did have a size 3 shield on Krait Phantom so had minimal shielding.

Now considering flying back to start to recollect all the scan data I lost, as was doing this expedition thought it would be good motivation to help get my explorer rank up having a purpose.
Then playing catch up all the way to the end or just starting from Omega Mining Operation onwards.

At least I have my route and finds still listed on EDSM so I know I did actually do it.

In risk of jinxing it, I haven't died yet... knock on wood...

It was close when I was entering the view planet, I didn't pay attention to the gravity either, but I could tell from the descent before it was too late that something was going on. Turned my ship nose straight up and full throttle. Helped me get a stop on it.

Collision with dark asteroid perhaps? They can be seriously hard to see sometimes!

n.b. This was pre-nightvision.

May of Been, but had no time to react as soon as had dropped from SC at the station had already hit whatever it was before the client showed anything.

Hence why think may be a bug as surely dropping from SC at a station should not drop you right onto an object you cannot avoid.

I had my first close call, I was playing about in Labirinto (the labyrinth planet), and saw a deep pit in between a few junctions. I thought it would be a good idea to hover over it and then use my thruster's to go into it to get some photos. Little did i know the bottom was full of stalagmites and one almost penetrated my hull. My shields were gone and hull down to 48%.

I had a decision, do i limp my way to the WP and not take any more risks or shall i get myself repaired? I decided to give the Repair Seals a call and get myself repaired. They dutifully answered my SOS and off i went on my merry way with a Seal sticker attached to the back of my Phantom. Yes 48% is still half my hull, but the mechanics are there and i heard on rumour control that they sit about eating Pizza and Donuts (hey not me saying it lol).

List Updated.

has nobody else died???

I suppose we are all either messing with rocks or sat at the station waiting for the next WP launch. I should imagine the list will grow steadily when we are underway again. hopefully not and we all make it all the way.

Got killed by someone parked outside the no fire zone while leaving omega mining -_- thankfully it wasn the ship I made the trip on and was a smaller mining vessel I had shipped in.

I guess I am more nightblind than others, I allways fly with nightvision on in asteroid fields, canyons, etc. In combat it helps targetting as you allways see the outlines of any ship (I mainly use fixed weapons). I came with my ASP allthough I like the cockpit view I do not like the ship handling (I have the idea after wp2 you will do the rest of the trip with the same ship for the next months to come). At the miningstation I now also have a Vulture (for combat CG), a Krait Mk2, a Phantom, a DBX and an Anaconda. I still not now which to choose for the rest of the trip. The DBX does 65 Ly, the others between 50 and 50 ly. I kinda like it round the miningstation. With the Ananconda I am allready in the top 10% miners CG, with the Vulture I am in the top 10% of the combat CG. I go out every day for 2 hours exploring/mapping (small jumps, mapped over 40 systems, some big systems 200 ly to the left of Omega sector). As for the dying. Lost my ASP 2x in open at the start of DW2 by gankers. At Omega I was again killed by a ganker (lost all my data of the 5000 ly trip). I will stay in PG Fleetcom for the rest of the trip.

As for the ship to continue with, my Krait MK2 does 50 LY (with fighterhangar), the cockpitview to the bottom is nice, what I do not like are the PODs with the exhausts/weapons left and right above you. I tend to go with the Krait MK2.

lol i had to read it again to count the amout of times you died...

I lost my ship in the bubble. And my valuable cargo. I was doing a stress test in Achenar to make sure I could successfully land on a high G planet and subsequently lost my ship. I had stored my fighter pilot but had forgotten I was carrying cargo that cannon be easily replaced. So far however I've managed to land at the view with no issues.

My first death was in the combat CG. My wingmates and I took on an FDL and I must have said something to upset the pilot because I ended up running, got my thrusters shot out, and drifted into an asteroid. RIP. Fortunately, I'd just previously delivered 1.5m in bounties so didn't lose much. Unfortunately, the rebuy wiped out any potential profit from that endeavor.

I died a couple of days ago. Got into a simple sidey in Open and just played around to see if anyone would target me. And yup. After a couple of minutes (had to chase the empty squares), finally someone took on themselves and killed me. I went out again after rebuy, but no one killed me then. :(

:D I guess Sidey is too obviously ganker trolling, he he he! I might do the same, just to feel their disappointment.
