How do I get rid of Notoriety?

Ok, so I was doing some planetary scan missions and as such got a bounty, started getting bounty ships coming after me, got bored of being interdicted so I dropped out, waited for one of them and then allowed them to shoot me first then defended myself, despite only defending myself I ended up with even more bounty and some notoriety. So now I can't even use the interstellar factor cause I got notoriety and I can't change ship or get missions or anything. My ship has a very short jump range as I was rocking my Mamba at the time so long distance travel isn't an option.

What do I do now?

Notoriety lowers over time. Have to be logged in though. Will return to 0 eventually.

Give up your previous nice comfy lifestyle, and become the notorious 5 outlaw of your dreams.

Wine, women and songs about you await...

Unless of course your sexual orientation/gender/pc stuff etc means you demand otherwise, which as notorious 5, you surely can.

Give in to your feelings, and embrace the dark side...

Not in Odyssey, right?
Please tell me it's a bug and not intended.
Couple days ago I was trying to figure out how to play off a fine to gain access to the station.
Had a fine but couldn't pay it off, until I realized I got the fine with another ship, so had to find which ship it is, then go there and pay off the fine.

So if I understand it correctly, bounties and fines are now tied to you and not the ship anymore, but you still need to be in said ship to pay it off. Question, what if I have a fine/bounty and sell the I got it with?

I am not.

So 100% correct information from my side of the elite fence 🙊🙉🙈

Think all threads maybe needing a little moniker in the title to show what random edition of the game they talking about..🤣

Yea.
The moment you step in Odyssey, the bounties and fines are tied to the Commander
No more, i change ship and I'm mister Nice Guy again... No more What happens in Vegas Ship stays in Vegas Ship

Crime

    • Crimes on players’ ships will be transferred to their commander, superpower bounties will be generated accordingly
  • When playing ED: Horizons after having played ED: Odyssey:
    • Crimes committed in the vessel will stay with the vessel, and superpower bounties for vessels will be regenerated
    • Crimes committed on foot will be transferred on vessel with biggest bounty for specific jurisdiction, or to active vessel if no other way
    • Impounded ships will be released, but the impound cost will be added to the bounty for that vessel

Oh so it's a complete series of dumb decisions. At the very least allow me to pay off the bounty/fine as the commander, if it's tied to the commander.

Truth be told I always preferred the idea of commander crimes rather than ship crimes which seemed ridiculous to me. So that may be one and only positive change in Odyssey for me unless that is just a one time thing for pre-existing crimes, which I suspect it might be.

Thanks guys. Kinda sucks that you need to just sit there if you're stuck local like I was, but I took the advice above and just went to bed and left the game on. :ROFLMAO: 😅

There's rl scenarios where fines aren't tied to the owner of the car, as the car could have been driven by someone else.
Regardless, if you already insist that the fines/bounties are tied to the commander and not the ship, at the very least allow me to pay it off as the commander.
Do not condition me to have the specific ship with me in order to do so.

  • Hello, I'd like to pay my fine
  • Where's your ship Sir?
  • Home, I took a cab, why?
  • Sorry we won't take your money until you bring the ship here, because reasons, Sir.

1. RL is not a game. Elite is not realistic.

2. I entirely agree that the need to have the offending ship with you is stupid. Almost everything in Elite game world is connected by GalNet so you should be able to pay anything, anywhere. Thing is, if the fines/bounties will be commander specific that is a non-issue as you would have no bounties on ships.

To me it looks like: let's do it like this, we have some scenarios that we're dealing with, and then we will see how it goes and what works and what doesnt and we'll deal with them as they appear.

This, paired with the new outfitting UI, new gal map and the tiled planet generation, to me looks like fdev hired an entirely random group of people to bring decisions for a game they never even heard of.

I applaud that aspect actually. Bounty on CMDR not ship. That was always stupid in my opinion and led to people that enforced that blockade in Deciat yesterday then claiming they were ganked when they were spotted in their cargo hauler the next day. "But that was my 'clean' ship". This would actually force the adoption of the "criminal path"

However, since Anarchy controlled systems are about to be extinct in a few more ticks It's going to be a tough road to be a criminal commander soon.

Do a couple of cargo missions to Hutton Orbital.

You also get a free Anaconda on your first visit.

And a mug.
Don't listen to this its a trick. Some idiots seem to enjoy misleading new players. The game can be annoying enough, so stop being so malicious and giving new players an even more annoying experience. There is no free anaconda, never has been. Or a mug for that matter.
