Newcomer / Intro How do you deal with corrosive damage?

I'm working on Professor Palin. I seem to remember other ways to deal with corrosive damage, other then dock and repair. What are they?

Amfu is the main one. If travelling long distances with Corrosive cargo, timing your jump so that you are in countdown 30 seconds after arriving worked perfectly.

However,.'working on Palin' does not require any corrosion damage

Hmm... are you carrying probes rather than fragments? Probes cause damage, fragments don't.

if its due to Thargoid missiles or their caustic aftermath after they blow up you turn silent mode on and boost until you get a notification saying that it's gone, otherwise you need corrosive resistant cargo racks.

Thanks. The damage was from Thargoid missiles. I should have been more clear.

You can get the "decontamination" repair limpets. They clean out the corrosive effects as well as a bit slower hull repair rate than the regular repair limpets.

Without decontamination limpets you have to cook the corrosion off your hull this should be done as soon as possible so that the cumulative damage from the corrosion and the heat doesn't cause too many problems.

a) don't get hit by those caustic missiles
b) don't fly through the caustic cloud when a thargoid blows up
c) If you do get some of the caustic stuff on your ship, you can remove it by:
1) heating up your ship (silent running is one way to do this, or pop some SCBs, etc -- anything to get your heat up for a while, until the caustic burns off)
2) using decontamination limpets, which will remove the caustic and repair your hull
3) high tailing it back to a station -- the caustic will be removed when you dock.

I'd just like to add, and this is only my perception, but it seems to me that no matter how many missiles hit you in your fight with the interceptor or the scouts. The rate of eating of the corrosion doesn't change. Although the initial damage may pile up. I never notice. Too busy booming and zooming. Then I deal the corrosion after the fight.
