How many birds should be added to the game??

if we take into account the birds that may be in the zoos of the world, we would get a list of 50/60 species. From what I've seen that in most zoos there are usually:

3/4 species of cranes
3/4 species of storks
between 5 - 15 species of ducks, geese and swans (counting them together)
5/8 species of pigeons
3/5 species of pheasants
3/10 species of macaws, parrots, parakeets (counting them together)
3/6 species of ibis and herons (counting them together)
3/6 species of eagles and vultures (counting them together)
1/2 species of flamingo
1/2 species of pelican
3/4 species of owls
2/3 species of cockatoos
2/3 species of toucans
2/3 species of hornbills
And they also have several species of small birds
Coraciiformes (for example: Blue-bellied roller); Passerines (for example: Gouldian finch)

And I don't know if I forget something

I'd be fine with 8

If we get a single aviary DLC and nothing else relating to flying birds, I think Frontier would need to include at least 10 species to keep players happy.

The eight species animal packs are woefully insufficient to make continents feel "full".

Ex: I don't think 8 more North American species really makes the North American areas of my zoos feel complete...not like the African sections which have many more animals.

I've said this many times...with 6 continents, adding only 12 species of birds would mean 2 birds to represent each continent. And that is just pathetic.

If you went to san diego zoo, toronto zoo, london zoo etc. And they only had 2 birds to represent ALL of South America, or two birds to represent all Asia it wouldn't be a very good zoo.

To make this game feel like a realistic zoo sim, it will need more than two birds per continent in my opinion (so 12 or more species minimum).

I’m hoping for 10 or more birds at launch with 1+ per future dlc
In my vision I could see ground birds or birds that don’t need an aviary to be included in the dlcs randomly and I would personally like at least 2 of each family or just 1. If these birds could be released all at once or released alongside the remaining dlcs I’d be happy.
Red crown crane and sandhill crane
Shoebill storks and marabou storks
Muscovy ducks and idk
Geese I don’t care for
Trumpeter swans
Victoria crowned pigeons
Golden Pheasants
Scarlet ibis kiwis and maybe blue Herron
Now for aviary
I’d like to give all bird families a shot and give all continents some love
Bald eagle, stellar sea eagle or harpy eagle
Snowy owl, Eurasian eagle owl
Peregrine falcons, caracara
Egyptian vulture, Andean condor or California condor
Northern Goshawk, sparrowhawk
Harris hawk, Polynesian hawk
Idc flamingo
Idc pelican
Toco Toucan
Great hornbill
Don’t forget the kookaburra
African grey parrot, Kea, scarlet macaw many of you have made great suggestions so I’ll leave the rest of the parrots, macaws, cockatoos to you

Theres one flaw in this argument, and thats either your selection of birds, or that you casually forgot that birds can fly and frequently use that to be pretty much everywhere.
Example, European birds!
White Stork, Bearded Vulture, Greylag Goose, Snowyowl, Common krestel (Falcon), Golden eagle, common raven, eurasian jay, eurasian oystercatcher and european golden plower.
10 Birds, all good choices for a european spot, different familys and sizes, all living on atleast 3 continents, most of them africa, europe, asia and some also either north america and oceania. Same for most "south" american birds, where most spread up to north america, etc.
Even with only 8 birds, it isnt that hard of a task to come up with a raster that has atleast 2 birds for each continent

I struggle to understand this entire comment.

This part in particular however, "Theres one flaw in this argument"
There was no argument. Just my opinion which if you can reread my point was...

"To make this game feel like a realistic zoo sim, it will need more than two birds per continent in my opinion"

So that's MY opinion. 🍻

Opinion ‐ a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

You also made the following statement in that post:
I've said this many times...with 6 continents, adding only 12 species of birds would mean 2 birds to represent each continent.
Konig’s point is that the statement is not true since many of the species would be able to represent multiple continents.

I'm scared we get a four birds Aviary Pack, and i hope it would be a eight bird Pack.
With the Aquatic Pack we had the same sheme. Four in the "Main" Pack and four in other packs + diving for bears, cats and crocs. Result: 16 animals that could dive.
Now we go for the birds: In the Base Game we have the Flamingo and the peafowl that could possible fly, i hope they go for a animal pack (that would mean no building pieces for the builders again! If that were so, we have only one pack with building stuff/foliage this year). Plus 7 birds in the Aviary Pack and I really hope in the next packs would be one animal slot for one bird.
I don't think Frontier change their DLC models. I hope it, but I'm not assuming. (a normal pack could be: 4 animals 1 bird 1 exhibit 150-200 scenery pieces, an Animal Pack 7 animals 1 bird 1 exhibit, price per Pack increase to 12€)

I'm so nervous about this Pack, it is really very good that I am busy with Christmas decorations, that I don't have to think about the Pack all the time :ROFLMAO:

I'd see too common species of birds (common pigeon, house sparrow, great titmouse, common raven, mallard duck), national birds (white stork, philippine eagle, bald eagle) & other ones

I kind of want both the ability to make grander aviaries for larger birds but also, like, aviary-ish exhibits. Also, while not birds, bats seem like a no-brainer for a zoo. I do think the focus should be on birds though for aviaries. A good amount of psittacines (parrots), a few raptors some larger storks and wading birds, and tropical doves and pheasants seem necessary, as well as birds like Hornbills and Toucans. Also, waterfowl.

Ummm… I may be in the minority here but I genuinely don’t think we’ll have 50-60 birds. In fact, I actually wouldn’t prefer that because I’m thinking, at that point, it would become a quantity over quality thing. I know Frontier does their birds exceptionally well, but they should focus on maybe 10 birds, at least at first. If I were to guess, the aviary pack will feature 8-12 birds.

Consider that the birds will need a lot of new elements for construction and props so the number I do not think will exceed 10 birds, if we are optimistic
