How many of you don't play anymore?

This will be a waste of words and I think that no, don't bother to reply. Anyways.

To get that out of the way: Yes, the capital c content is a joke.
There are two shooting galleries where targets conveniently spawn for us, in one of those, for no reason at all.
There is a RandomNumberGenerator we can play and we can also play the same RandomNumberGenerator but with some text attached.
That's pretty much it, true.

But here it comes.

1) I had a phase where I was very negative about it but I have come to believe that Frontier knows and that they are going to do something about it.
2) , and that's the big one: over the years I've become soooo sick and tired of games in which I, the player, am merely some device to advance through
the script of some wannabe Hollywood writer. Games in which I'm railroaded from setpiece to setpiece and am thrown some combat or whatever bones in
between to keep going. Or/and where I only get to be the eyes and hands of some imbecile who I don't give a toss about. I want and I need that player agency and
be able to have choices and make decisions that have proper consequences.
In Elite, I get that. To a scale that I haven't seen in other games. "Lol", I hear you laugh, "how so?" And I will tell you. My actions and decicions
may have very little impact on the galaxy (as advertised) or none at all (as people claim. I'm sure this will change) but they have tremendous impact
on the life of CMDR Pavel Chokev (not even RP talk here). And this encompasses everything: leaving LHS 3447 on the first day, trying to reach that nebula.
Failing that, finding a new home on the fringe of inhabited space. The decision to just not trade. To not grind. The decision to sometimes not pay that fine. Instead, open
fire on the cops every now and then - and always in Empire ;) Small things like the decision to visit Sol in a Sidewinder, leaving my capable ship(s) 160LYs behind; being
somewhat stuck with a crappy Eagle now. Or even big "meta" stuff like playing only in Open in full acceptance of its ruleset.

Yes, I wish I could do more with that sort of mature freedom but finding that freedom here is enough for now to keep me from quitting.

The game needs more substance for it's longevity. Our faith in the developers notwithstanding, they need to hear what we all think and it is important that if the game does not have the longevity we desire (and for some it has already ended) that they know.

For that reason - thanks for coming and sharing your opinion, I enjoyed reading your story and it is good to hear you are having fun - I hope it continues and that the game shapes up the way you want it too :)

Hopefully it will do the same for me and we may unwittingly meet cannon to cannon as enemies or hull to hull as allies.

The order 1886

Damn I forgot about that pos. I stand entirely corrected.

X3 TC/AP in my modest opinion is one of the most brilliant games ever. Iv spend thousands of hours to it. So, mayby i try XRebirth, mayby ill leave it be, and start X3 again instead.

Do you play those without mods? I've never bothered with X because none of my friends play it (about 30 of us have been gaming together since school and although our numbers have dwindled we still really only play games on the grounds of 'peer' review).

I'm looking at them hmm'ing and aaa'ing recognising their potential but I really don't want to have to play around with mods any more. Oculus makes me not want to play around with anything for a while, the amount of time I spend configuring the damn thing haha.

No I have had it for the time being and have started an mmorpg, actually it's GW2 and like ED there is no subscription.

There all similarity ends

I have never ever seen so many players in one instance ever,, and runs as smooth as silk, albeit with reduced fps.

Still I will be back no doubt as there is too much potential but playing something else took the blinkers off of my eyes as far as ED is concerned....

There is no game.

GW2 is awesome! *player here* Got my partner into it recently after first letting her try WoW. Needless to say GW2 won her over immediately and we have enjoyed quite a lot of hours on it. She's not into space though so I'm on my lonesome here :(

Really? is that game good? The reviews are terrible..they say it is short and just..bad? (I'm asking honestly because I once was interested in that game)

A short expensive cutscene is the most apt description. I also thought it looked good and was considering buying it to play on my mates ps4 - do not even bother looking at it. I've seen people who were lauding it selling it on FB Buy and Sell pages for less than half the price the next day :\

From what I seen the game is actually good. Short, very simplistic cover shooter but still a good game. But value for your money? Imo no its not. I will wait for a PS4 sale to try it out.

I'm not playing. It seems as if much of the game is just a placeholder for more polished content. I'll come back and check it out when and if it appears to be the game I was expecting.

Been playing a fair amount in the 1.1 and 1.2 betas, but otherwise don't really touch it. Not so much that it isn't fun, but rather I don't have much free time and too many other games on an ever growing backlog. Though once Wings goes live, I'll probably be playing every chance I can with my friend, though knowing him, that might be less than I play now. Mostly just waiting around for the game to improve more, and 1.2 has been a massive step in the right direction, though I am not sure I will really get into it until I am able to walk around my own ship, or launch a Condor from an Anaconda. I will grind so hard to get a 'Conda once they get the ability to launch Sidewinders and Condors.

I have heard that it has everything it needs in gameplay but the execution is really poor. They say you spend far more time walking between action zones of cover fire than you do anything else and then those sequences of cover fire get old after the first. Admittedly if it was £5 I would get it but at the price they are asking it's possibly one of the worst games ever.

Which is unfair in a way but they chose the price for it :>

I am stuck at work for about another hour, so you suck :D
I have no beta access so you both suck :)

I just played a couple of hours when 1.1 was out, but not any more. I really don't want to grind-trade for bigger ships, but that's the only way to make real Crs, so I'm stuck with my cobra and a broken rep system :)

I only really play for a few days every time there's a major update. I've already played over a hundred hours since beta 3 and I've had a fair share of fun. The only motivation for me to come back is when a big update is released like the upcoming Wings update. I play for a week or so and then go back to other games while I wait for the next reason to play Elite.

I don't either. Played a few days during private Beta, but after the transition wipe for public beta, I just didn't have the energy to re-grind in order to get my trusted Cobra back.
I've been following the forums though, on and off, a week here, a month there. It seems the need for grinding has intensified immensely, so much so that the title currently is out of reach for me. I just can't spare the time.
Still hoping that in a year or so the game will be in a playable and enjoyable state, with content and interesting mechanics that provide some personal rewards and justification for booting the title up, for an hour or so a week.

Glad to see some people are still hanging in there, as it seems this beta will continue for at least a year longer, and testers seem to still be needed judging by posts on the forum and on reddit. I'm sure FD appreciates the continued testing you all are doing, so hang in there for those of us who can't spare the time.

Go play Ed for 10 mins you'll get some sleep then

:O Yeah only because players keep telling him to use his imagination, but he's so tired all he can think about is sheep.. zzZ

Then when he does sleep it will be nightmares 'How the hell am I going to transport 10t of Animal Meat to Lave without my keys goddamit! WHERE DID I PUT THEM!!"

I read the forums most days, and I look down at my HOTAS but rarely pick it up to play anymore. I was wondering who else is feeling a little let down and sad by what we have so far? I still have high hopes for the game and think that they will make it much better this year.

To all you that are feeling like I do, stay hopeful. There is still time but the clock is ticking

I wish I could play! We got a new Guide Dog puppy two weeks ago and I've barely turned on my computer since which is a bit of a problem given that I'm supposed to be running a business from my home office.
