How many people are still playing in VR?

They was gonner patch us recently with a lighting update but it broke everything.
Guess odysseys lighting can wait a little longer

Hello all,
I used to play Elite exclusively in VR but since Odyssey came out I got frustrated with performance and my Xbox controller not being recognised. So now I'm only playing flat which is a shame since ED was so so fantastic in VR.
What is your experience, are you still playing in VR, did you manage with the limitations or are you playing flat?
Play in VR all the time for the past three years, not possible to play in 2D anymore, I do have a good PC and sadly Elite Odyssey is so graphics hungry it is a shame for VR players.

Any1 got a 4090 and a G2?
I overclocked the outa my 2x 3090's the other night and Odyssey actually play fairly well, as long as I wasnt in a station, the only way I can get any kind of playable frames without dropping any, is to run 50% resolution.
It looks like with the move to push every1 into EDH 4.0 or Odyseey, eventually 3.8 is going to get dropped alltogether, i don't see myself playing 3.8 anymore.

I have 4090 & G2 with an AMD 9 5950x CPU and can play without any game stutter and a re-projection ratio of about 8%. I'm getting about 50/60 fps in stations, which is the worst case senario, everywhere else 80/90 fps at 150% Steam VR with every game setting at Ultra and the upscaling setting in Normal mode.
The 4090 air cooled is about 60% better than my Founders Edition 3090 water cooled gpu.

Wow 60% thats a huge improvement.
I should say i'm running Steam at 100% not 50% and i'm just barley staying above 45fps in startions. I think I'm going to wait for the 4090TI and upgrade my CPU at the same time to a 13900KS. Nvidia just messed up my plans on selling one of my 3090's to fund the 4090 when they released, never thought the market would drop out on them like it did.

Still? Guess I do, but I haven't played it in a few years, I only recently started looking into ED again. Horizons, as I haven't gotten Odyssey (yet?).

I only play ED in VR. I don't think I've even tried it pancake, but I do play other non-VR games.

I know there's a trick of sorts to get Odyssey in VR, with limited functionality but a bit cumbersome. I haven't decided if I should get it yet. I hope they implement proper VR and not that big-screen thing some time soon (one can hope). I know I wouldn't mind swapping to the motion controllers for gunplay or other interactions, or even moving out of the chair to roomscale (again, one can hope... though I guess making that transistion seamless would pose a problem).

Oculus Quest 1, Air link (my cable's shut, otherwise I'd probably use that for seated VR. But AirLink works great), HOTAS and G27 wheel for the SRV (pedals double as Yaw in flight, oh and also using the clutch for the vertical thruster in SRV lol).
