some cockpits do have really nice designs (in the back) it's just sad that you can't really "go there" in a more natural way.you can walk around the cockpit and look out the windows, can be a nice distraction for those long flights
that would be a shame if they pulled out. My G2 is not perfect but HP have made the best all round windows MR headset out of the lot of them (though the Samsung Odyssey should also get some praise as well so I am told)Get them while you can, because rumor is HP may be withdrawing from the VR market...

hp is withdrawing from the vr market for a reason... all of their headsets contain an engineering flaw (??) that causes the cable to break its braids... only tech savvy people are smart enough to remove the clip from the side of the unit and re route the cable so that its not bending on a 90° angle over the space of a centimeter.... all others get warranty before their year is up. its costing them too much for that little oversight (?? i still have a lot of trouble believing that oversight slipped past every engineer on their team). i suspect their goal was to sell a pile of replacement cables since it does take a while for the damage to happen, unless in the hands of a perpetual gamer like myself.Apparently the Reverb G2 is currently $250 off, directly from HP, on a "weekly deal"... No idea whether that offer ended yesterday, or includes orders placed during the weekend, but it still lists reduced...

you should try and find someone who will let you have a go. it's an experience.I've never played ED, or nearly anything else, in VR as I don't own any VR hardware.
Actually, on my G2 there's no 90 deg bend as the DP connector is perpendicular to the PCB. Nor is the cable bent through a right angle on my G1. That DP connector holds a right angled plug so the cable emerges from the plug at the correct angle. Just ordered a replacement cable as, after 3.5yrs and 1000s of hours of use, easily, the G1 headset portion of the cable has just started to become a bit dicey where it connects to the main cable so I've ordered a standard right angled DP 1.4 8K extension to replace it. I see some people cut a hole in the top just to plug the main cable in and do away with the headset cable entirely. To me, replacing the cable with something using the same fitting makes much more sense and doesn't risk applying torque to the DP socket at an angle it wasn't designed for. Might need to trim the plug housing to make it fit flush with the PCB but fingers crossed.hp is withdrawing from the vr market for a reason... all of their headsets contain an engineering flaw (??) that causes the cable to break its braids... only tech savvy people are smart enough to remove the clip from the side of the unit and re route the cable so that its not bending on a 90° angle over the space of a centimeter.... all others get warranty before their year is up. its costing them too much for that little oversight (?? i still have a lot of trouble believing that oversight slipped past every engineer on their team). i suspect their goal was to sell a pile of replacement cables since it does take a while for the damage to happen, unless in the hands of a perpetual gamer like myself.
dont get me wrong here, i love the headset and its crisp picture and have logged hundreds upon hundreds of hours in mine... but that one little flaw seems to be there by design and thats some apple level f****ery right there.... anyone buying one of their headsets should be made aware of this.
its the little clip on the side that bends the cable, the one meant to hold it in place and keep it from getting in front of the user. its not any of the connectors or where it comes out of the headset... its that little clip that bears the weight of the (incredibly bulky, probably by necessity) cable as it drops down beside us... the clip is the same on g1 and g2. ive removed and disposed of it, almost as soon as i realized what it would do... but not before i had to limit my headset to 60hz because the cable is too damaged to handle 90hz reliably. i COULD buy another cable for what... $160cdn... and i COULD get my 90hz back but i spent $1000 on the headset and that one engineering oversight (which i believe was an actual planned breaking point for the headsets) should have been warranty work and they refused.Actually, on my G2 there's no 90 deg bend as the DP connector is perpendicular to the PCB. BTW, I can't find a statement from HP stating that they're withdrawing from VR. Do you have a link or is it just the usual unqualified social media speculation in the same group as 'A highly placed source confirms Apple M1 will destroy Intel' and 'NASA scientists confirm the theoretical upper limit for Silicon based processors is 200MHz' - I will never forget that one from the beginning of the 90s.
Ah yes that annoying little clip. Mine broke ages ago so I just draped the headset cable over where the left headphone joins. A more gentle curve so the cable doesn't bend sharply. Where it should've been all along IMO.its the little clip on the side that bends the cable, the one meant to hold it in place and keep it from getting in front of the user.
and another... mostly the same.![]()
Will HP End Reverb G2 Production & Exit The VR Market?
HP’s Reverb G2 is seeing steep discounts as rumors circulate production will end next year. Reverb G2 leverages Microsoft’s ‘Windows Mixed Reality’ PC VR platform. Despite the name, all PC WMR headsets are VR-only, and they’re compatible with most SteamVR content. The Microsoft store has only auploadvr.com

I doubt releasing one of the most successful hmds of all time, would have them thinking "ah let's quit while we're ahead". But one never knows.
