Horizons How many people have bothered to fit ship launched fighters?

Simple enough question!

How many people have SLFs on one of their ships?

I've not installed any or crew. Waste of a slot and income imo.

Yeah, I've fitted a single bay on my Exploration Anaconda.

I lost a few light years off my range after fitting the fighter bay, but after I progressed the new "Lightweight" engineering options for...

- Heat Sink
- ECM
- Life Support

...I got every little bit of my range back again.

It really is outstanding. The fighter is the slow Alliance one, and is fitted with beams. Crew member is "Expert". That thing absolutely shreds the shields of anything I tell it to attack.

I have two pilots. One is newly minted at 0% Expert. The other one is about 22% through the same rank...

I've configured my numeric keypad with all the "order" hotkeys, which makes it very easy to tell my NPC pilot when to focus fire on my target, when to defend me, and when to bring the ship back in.

I've has some terrific gameplay with ship-launched fighters. A very good addition to the game, in my humble opinion!

I like to take part in different areas of the game. Having a crew member on shore leave sucking up profits just doesn't work for me. I like the overall idea, but the payment scheme doesn't make sense to me.

I'm still building up resources in game. No where near having a big ship yet so I picked up a Keelback just to try it out..Took it to a RES and had a little fun in the fighter. Novelty over now back to BH in my regular ships, exploration and trading without having to share the funds I desperately need to stack.

I love them. Sold my A rated Vulture for a keelback and a SLF. Would never go back. I've made more money bounty hunting with this combination than I ever did with the vulture. Bigger ships simply can't maneuver well enough to beat a SLF, if flown correctly.

SLF, imo, bring the "fighter" feeling to the game. I simply love the speed and maneuverability.

You've really inspired me here. I've got a fighter in my T9 for defensive purposes. I took the T9 and fighter into a High RES last night, just to try the fighter for some bounty hunting, and had a whale of a time. I've got a Vulture parked up, and I think I'm going to sell it and get me a Keeback with a fighter like you.

[up] I know I've been having a ball with that combination.

I am deliriously happy with my Taipan + Keelback combo. I can park the mothership on the edge of a conflict zone and go solo hunting in the fighter, or I can let my pilot play the hammer while I take on the role of anvil. I have plenty of utility, and enough firepower to take on just about anything, but not too comfortably!

It's amazing, these SLFs are the best thing to happen to Elite in a year.

Ship launched fighter is essential exploration gear. Forget that slow, stomach-churning SRV, unless you enjoy shooting rocks.

On those occasions when I actually pew pew, I much prefer to fight in my fast and agile fighter and use my anaconda as a meat shield. Tag enemy with the fighter, they chase me as I flee back towards my pilot-operated anaconda, which duly hammers them, and I smack their smacked about ship into oblivion.

I do hope FD will offer us an exploration-oriented fighter at some point.

In all my ships that can, i do. And sweet fighter love is happening. This is a very cool feature in deed. Needs more than 30km range though.

I take mine in ships that can; and as she costs so much, she has to earn her keep, so I keep her nice and busy.

Although its more fun getting her to fly the big ship and darting about in the fighter myself and telling her to let rip on command.

Would be nice to actually SEE your comrades in your cockpit with you.

Yes got one as soon as they came out. Excellent exploration addition as well as a defensive feature in the "bauble".
Love the immersion aspect of extra crew member and the fact you can level him/her up.
Hope to see them sitting next to you as NPC crew when multicrew hits.

Lovin' it:)

R.I.P. Karmen Whitfield.

She was a good fighter pilot, whose only mistake was to be a crewmember in an Anaconda that speared down into a hostile ground installation, getting its nose stuck between an office block and a gantry, while being slowly shot until its hull gave out, despite every wibble and wobble its hapless pilot tried to perform to get free.

She will be missed!

Yeah. SLF is great. My Keelback in a combat zone, tanked and with a SLF is just great. Unfortunately it doesn't have enough compartments remaining to equip for mining as that would be a blast!

Perhaps we could have an optional internal upgrade of an extra escape pod for our crew members.

Still using mine. She's turned out to be extremely brutal with a GU-97 and fixed weapons and can easily take down an AspX or smaller all on her own. I've upgraded her rank while hunting for engineering parts but likely will lose her when I get back from Jaques and go on DSE. It's for that reason I haven't upgraded her to Elite.

I just wished I could load up a larger Fighter Bay on my Cutter and launch in one fighter, while she launches in the other. That would be awesome!
