Haven't had any inclination to try passenger runs. From what I can see, they're far too needy and annoying to be bothered with. I get enough of that type in the real world, I don't want the aggravation in the game too.

Though there really is no reason to stop if you're in need of cash, as you can still grind VIPs to Smeaton for ~100M/h.

I already had 2B (entirely legit) and just wanted the Scrooge McDuck badge in EDSM. Quite sure the Badge does not impact anyone elses game.
