How much hacking is there?

People should take a look at this video posted on reddit today.

At around 4:20 :it shows an AI PILOT becoming immune to damage.

Watched it, saw no evidence of same. What I did see was the range of the engagement opening to the point that the lasers were well into their damage fall-off, so the 'condas hull went down slower. It never stopped going down though.

I did not joined a group so far since solo is the only option with my internet speed, but is that not a solution the get around possible cheaters in open? Can people be kicked from a group?

I think a lot of the alarms of hacks are overblown. Sure you can search but most hacking sites for game cheats are just as likely if not more likely to be scams looking to make a quick buck out of the gullible. Rather than actual freely available exploits.

Not to say that they are not out there. But a lot of the people that complain, they are often fairly new and haven't the experience to know what is and isn't possible in game. The initial learning curve is still quite steep for new players and it takes a bit of time to figure out all the possibilities. Plus some people just don't like the idea that they don't actually have jedi like skills.

I haven't come across obvious hacks in 6-8 months of play but I am not that sociable and tend to stay away from other players.

People can be kicked from open too, just report them.

Group playing is not a solution, a good community actively reporting hackers solves this issue better than any anti-hacking software.

... I haven't encountered anything suspicious myself though.

You're lucky! I was cruising in my Python when I got dragged out and attacked by a Sidey..... The moment my suspicion went off, happened when I opened fire and the Sidewinder exploded...

^^

Whenever you meet a CMMDR with unusually resistant ship or what-not, just send that recording to the Devs. The cheater will be banished from Open.

I've run into a few fights where I just can't get the shields down. But, I can take 'em down to one ring. Other times, they hit me with lasers and I wonder why my shields drop, especially with the mirrored armor on, which is supposed to stand up to energy weapons.

Hacks? Heck no. Just a discrepancy in gear and tactics. I have fun trying to analyze what the heck they hit me with, and look at different setups on getting them better the next time. Most times, those pvpers send a friend invite, as I'll tell 'em good fight, and start talking shop about setups. I'm not doing the pirate stuff, or ganking noobs out of SC. I tend to fish for PVP. Kill a bunch of NPCs, and fly around with a 100k + bounty and see who bites.

Not saying there's hackers out there. In my experience with the game so far, I haven't faced anyone with a god mode config.1

lol.

It literally blew up? A Sidewinder? Wow, man.

lol.

hacks are easily obtainable i have no problem with a person using them for trading or AI bounty hunting or escorting Human Traders.

i have problems though when a person uses a hack to destroy player ships and troll.

I guess I am stupid because I can't find them when I google. I guess elite dangerous hacks isn't the best search phrase since most of the links point back to here.

All I can say is that I have never come across another player using them.

Some probably are, but I haven't seen it.

No idea how much there is or isn't, but FD should consider doing what Daybreak Games (formerly SOE) did in response to those caught. :D

Enjoy:

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but the mirrored armor only works when your shields are down. The shields absorb the impacts of energy weapons and or ballistics. When it fails, your armor comes into play. I wouldn't use the mirrored armor - most AI and players use kinetic weapons after shields are down.

Client hacks are out there. And anyone who has skills at deconstruction probably wouldn't find it too difficult to do.

The only one the hacker cheats is him or her self.

You can't buy integrity. You can only earn it.

Hacking ED is like cheating at solitaire. So what? You always win.

Why was it that Kirk agreed to leave the Nexus again ... ?

Just few paranoid whiners who don't know how to differentiate between hacks and bugs, "AI becoming immune to Dmg" yeah "AI" was using a infinite health hack right? Nor me or my group has ever encountered a hacker, you should really write a post whining about bugs not hackers.

I had an NPC python try & run with 1% hull - an NPC ASP and I were hamering it for a while, railgun & beams. It wasnt until its shields came up angain and we dropped them that it popped.
