Yes.It's all a bit confusing.
Thank you @Ian Doncaster Interestingly so far i have avoided building satellites as wondering what are they? I'm finding a real lack of 'interesting' information about any installation when looking at the text. Let alone informative!Yes.
The problem is that there are two lists of types of installation [1]
- what it shows up as when you build it (where there's e.g. no such thing as a Satellite Installation)
- what purpose it has in the system (where there's e.g. no such thing as an Unauthorised Installation)
...and some of the names show up on both lists, but not necessarily in the same place.
Renaming all the "after construction" names to match their colonisation purpose (also renaming all the existing procedural installation objects, of course) sounds like it'd be the easiest solution but there might be a good reason not to which I can't think of.
[1] By perhaps more familiar analogy, an Imperial Courier is a type of ship, and Courier is a type of mission, but you can fly a Courier to do non-Courier missions, and you can do Courier missions without flying a Courier ship.
Similarly I have avoided building a hub because they don't seem advantageous to build. There seems to be a better alternative facility for each type (tech, industry, security, etc.). I simply do not understand the advantage of building a hub. They cost more for the value return*.Thank you @Ian Doncaster Interestingly so far i have avoided building satellites as wondering what are they? Yes, that's normal. Comms Installation model, Relay Station role.Is a relay station meant to be the same as a comms installation. ? Because that's what i got.![]()
A lot of them have something you can't easily get another way, I think.Similarly I have avoided building a hub because they don't seem advantageous to build. - Extraction has the highest Wealth boost of any single construction
- Civilian or Outpost is an easy way to reduce Security without economic side-effects
- Exploration combines Tech Level boosts with a Tourism economy influence, which you'd probably have to build two separate things for otherwise
- Military has the most efficient Security boost of any construction
- Refinery is the only way to get its type of System Economy Influence (and colonisation gets through a lot of metals) and a nice spread of statistic boosts
- Scientific increases Tech Level a lot without touching any of the other stats
- Industrial also has a good set of stat boosts and is a lot cheaper (and less picky about location) than an Asteroid base
Sounds more apt for a penal colony.Spirit Of Punishment... Best name ever.
I am naming my Coriolis stn this... fantastic name.
That's curious!I just finished the Security Installation -Nomos but mine it says Comms Installation lol.
As far as I know, and I think I have the same combination in "my" System, it's just needed to have one in the system - not orbiting the same body.... does the relay station need to be orbiting the same planet on which I intend to build the security installation or can it just be anywhere in the system? ...
It just needs to be in the one system not orbiting the same body, as @root2 said.Does anyone know the answer to this, I have searched everywhere so apologies if I've missed it or if it's obvious to everyone except me...
The security installation says it needs a relay station "in the system", but does the relay station need to be orbiting the same planet on which I intend to build the security installation or can it just be anywhere in the system?
I just don't want to throw a load of grind at it just to find out I've put the relay station in the wrong place!
