People usually run away :\, I'm friendly, Honest! Each time I meet someone else they don't answer, I try to fly close and wave my wings, and they FSD out! Most interaction I had was scanning each other for bounties and then flying off to chase NPC wanted in nav beacon.

Dying here isn't so bad, Unless you have a full cargo hold! Even then flying around with half a mil worth of cargo with no shields is exiting because of that. In Eve you just wanted to die RL T_T

If I see some dude flying around I usually just have a chat. If I get interdicted then I assume they aren't there for a chat... If it's in a conflict zone and they aren't highlighted as enemy I keep a very wary eye on them (and end up fighting them 90% of the time within sixty seconds).

Even though I currently play as a pirate in Elite, I really only have encounter 3 people in the game that ended up with an exchange of gun fire. One of them was a bounty hunter in a Nav Point that decided to interrupt me while I was pirating a npc. I turned my ship around and we had a little stare down. Perhaps 5 seconds pass and then he opens fire with his multicannons. After a little bit of a turn war I was able to get on his six and take his ship apart. The other 2 were traders, 1 hauler and 1 type 6, that decided that is was a good idea to forgo their shield generators for more cargo space and travel thru well populated territory. I don't normally pirate players as I make better money on NPCs, but something about trade ships that ditch their shield generator make me think that they are just begging to be harassed. So I pulled them out of SC and shot them up a bit. I didn't kill them, nor did I really have any real intention to, but I did send them a chat message before they jumped out along the lines of "Next time equip a shield generator you greedy idiot!"

Flying shield-less is a risk, some are willing to take. Don't forget just because I don't have my shields doesn't mean I'm not sporting Military grade plating ;). Did it all day yesterday and was only interdicted (successfully) twise, both cases managed to escape with 98% hull still intact.

I am a alpha backer and since the game went live i have only had 2 encounters with CMDR's that shots were exchanged, first was a ass in a cobra that pirated and killed me when i was flying a hauler, it's life it happens , the second was a idiot in a eagle who interdicted and attacked me when i was in a full A kit cobra, didn't work out so well for him. (I think it was a stock eagle at that)

I did nothing but haul and mine till i got my ASP and those were the only 2 pvp encounters i had so the people whining about all the griefers (CMDR Carter who never plays open) are wrong, i have chatted with 5 or 6 CMDR's as we met at stations.

I dont like PVP when i am in a cargo hauler and they are in a fighter ship, but that is part of the game, if i am in a combat ship, well its game on win or lose.

now to my playstyle, I will NEVER attack a CMDR first i don't care if they have a bounty or not (call it professional courtesy) but if interdicted or attacked i will fight back.

everyone have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the game :)

Like I said I really wasn't out to do much permanent damage to them other then a repair bill. :) I just see forgoing shields for cargo space as somewhat overly greedy so I enjoyed messing with them a little. Makes me wonder what other systems people would get rid of if they were allowed to cram cargo in their place instead.

Hell I dropped weapons to save fuel on weight (not much you can do with 2 class 1 mounts anyway). If I could hold my breath long enough I'd drop life support XD. Greed makes a good trader!

I always play in online mode and since playing i have only been sucsesfully interdicted 3 times so far by other commanders, i interdict both npcs and other commanders as and when i feel like it depending on how i want to make money at the time, generally so far i have not come across other commanders ( griefing ) the fights i have had have been fair, needing skill and thought both against those other commanders and the tougher npcs, having a blast so far, really enjoying the game.

I voted once a day, in actuality it was about 30 times since 5 days before release. I play as a pirate so it's whenever I pull over a trader or get attacked by a bounty hunter. I probably experience pvp more than the avg player since I deal with 2 professions instead of the 1 most players do.

Quick question, does it still count as pvp if I Pull over a trader, he doesn't have any cargo/anything of value so I let him go. If it doesn't my number will drop by around 6.

I would say interdicting someone is player interaction. I bet most of them ran and didn't realise you let them go :)

Playing a pirate in the hardcore way : no other way for me to earn money than getting booty from other ships, NPC or players. I've also decided to wipe all my progression each time I die (done twice already since official start of the game).
NPC are too easy targets when it comes to breaking hatches and collecting good cargo. There's absolutely no point earning money so easily. If I want big numbers I can play with a calculator and add million to other million, which would be as interesting.

It's a lot harder and challenging against other players and that's why I often aim at them. Frequency depends on how crowded the area I'm visiting is, sometimes none in a week, sometimes several in an hour.

I try to destroy cargo hatches and tend to leave my targets alive once their cargo is ready to be collected, or when it's obvious nothing will drop (mission haulage only or empty cargo). I sometimes forget to check their hull and destroy them in the process. Some other time I destroy them if they want to protect their lost cargo while I try to collect it.
That's a really difficult way to fight and I sometimes get some good resistance even from "easy to kill but not so easy to hatch" ships, which leaves me with more repair bills and ammo than anything else. Booty is often very light and very rewarding at the same time.

Even if I've never seen a full million on my character's account since the start of standard beta, I wouldn't swap this way of playing for easy-money trading or nav beacon camping.

Most of the chat is reduced to 'Drop your cargo' before trying to engage or trying to flee, depending of the side. Obviously, no time to lose with clunky chat interface for both parts.
Shooting is probably the most efficient, direct and expressive mode of communication E: D gives us, as obviously the game isn't the "collaborative-centric" experience that was first planned. I can't wait to see more positive interactions tools between players than actual opening fire / dropping cargo, but for now I simply use what the game offers : guns and hatches to aim at.

So from the pole results it's just as I said back in beta, you won't have any PVP when the game goes live and if you do it will be once in a blue moon.

More than 40% have never had even one occurrence and so all that unbelievable moaning about griefers back in beta was completely unwarranted.

There is PvP in this game if you do it right. I hate griefing so I give the player an opportunity. He can turn it down if he wants, unless he sides with the Empire. This is what I do -
- Go into Empire space, interdict Cmdr's who look like bounty hunters returning Empire bounty claims. I tell them I have a 100,000 Cr bounty and they fight me for a chance to win it.

I wouldn't call any true PVP player a griefer. Its like saying that somebody with a different opinions to mine is a troll.

I do not mind PVP or solo. What I do mind is somebody continually chasing the same person all over a system just to cause them upset.

PVP playing os fun, when you know they you are in a fair fight, and not somebody in a super ship taking on noobies.

0 times since release. Seen quite a few players around the starting system but since moving on from there into imperial space not that many. Seen a few around Sobago but all have been nice just saying a friendly hello and going about their business. Not actively looking for PVP at the moment as still trying to get better ship / equipment as well as getting a bit of credits on the side so that not all is lost if some mishap happens. As I'm playing in Open if I do get attacked as far as I'm concerned it comes with the territory, if I wanted to play in a safe environment there's Solo mode or you can always join one of the PvE groups.
