Few threads going on about griefing, as usual, I'd like to see the poll results for how often, since release, you engage in PvP, either if you instigate it, its forced on you, whatever, just how often you shoot at another player, another player shoots at you, or both of you are shooting at each other.

If you want to you could post what activity you are normally doing and if you are in the core systems or not.

never, there is no pvp in elite. elite is only about shooting unsuspecting targets and newbs, and that is not pvp, that is griefing.
if you are looking for pvp then this is not the game for you.

0 times since release, headed out exploring the moment since Gamma came out and haven't seen any live soul since official release.

I have attacked nobody, nor have I been attacked since Gamma launch began. Played upwards of 70 hours. How many times have you actually had what you claim here happen to you?

Twice since release:

- First one, I met a Wanted ship in SC. Interdicted him, then destroyed him.
- Second one, I was shooting Authority vessels in a System. I was wanted there, and was doing some mission. A CMDR in his Sidewinder decided to help the authorities and started shooting at me. I had to kill him shortly after (Wouldn't have done so otherwise, since he was clean and I wasn't interested in killing random targets)

Edit, for additional info:

I'm usually a Bounty-Hunter and working for the Federation. I'm wanted in a nearby Independent system, due to the tension between the Fed and them. Even if I'm wanted there, I still bounty-hunt in that independent system from time to time (So I shoot both Wanted and Authority ships. I haven't redeemed the vouchers so far, I'm not too good at going inside a station undetected, and don't want to be shot by the station)

It's few and far between. I had a Viper attack me today at a Nav Beacon and I rocked him to 42% hull and he bounced. I offered an olive branch to him, but he ignored me. I've fought a few of the higher wanted folks, but that normally just resulted in them running away, and my Viper couldn't keep up with their Cobras.

Unless someone has a decent Bounty, I'm pretty cautious yet friendly. I don't mind sharing at a Nav Beacon unless someone is trying to pouch bounties, but I've never had that happen since before Gamma, and now Release.

But with all that considered, the encounters have been sparse. It's probably been about 3-4 encounters, and a few "I don't trust you, you're flying aggressively around me, such as ramming me once softly, etc".

Most people seem to let me do my thing, I scan them, and they tend to not even scan me back - I don't know if it's out of fear of retaliation or what.

none as i play solo only. but i am not blind, i can see the floods of Eve online grifers pouring into open play.

There is PvP in this game if you do it right. I hate griefing so I give the player an opportunity. He can turn it down if he wants, unless he sides with the Empire. This is what I do -
- Go into Empire space, interdict Cmdr's who look like bounty hunters returning Empire bounty claims. I tell them I have a 100,000 Cr bounty and they fight me for a chance to win it.

I've been PvPing since the days of soldering up null modem cables for Amiga's :) Thing is - so many "PvP" players these days have no clue what real PvP is and wouldn't know what a challenge was if it jumped up and bit them on the nose.

PvP in Elite certainly does exist for those who seek it, personally I don't instigate it, but it is very much part of the game. It's just not a goal in the game.

Maybe, maybe not, the forums have certainly been flooded with paranoia.

I interdicted one of the guys on the top 5 bounties list, got attacked by 3 commanders at the sorbago capital ship, attacked 2 commanders at the sorbago capital ship, I was interdicted once (submitted) and fought a guy outside a station with his permission.

So far looks like I'm the most PvPed player in Elite Dangerous (well out of the few poll responders so far).

I've went to the hot spot on the news, which should have as good a chance of PvP as anywhere.

I've been flying around in a viper, adder and type 6.

Some of us thoroughly enjoy the thrill of fighting a foe who is capable of thinking independently of programmed fighting behaviors.

Do people kill people simply because they can? Of course. But it's so much more than that. I'm sorry your experiences have been so negative in the past that you feel inclined to blindly label any hostile encounter in Elite as griefing. Nor is that an accurate depiction of the game. Does it happen? Of course. Will it happen in any kind of multiplayer game where someone can have an inherent advantage over another? Of course.

The game is a much more lively experience when you don't know what the living-breathing person who just jumped into your instance is going to do. Solo play can't offer that to me. After collecting over 2000 bounties, it's pretty straight-forward how the AI will react to you. A person? That's a toss up every time you encounter someone.

Exactly how I see the game, I've only got 500 bounties though :)

It's not a grief if its a fair fight and they choose to. You must think all PvP is griefing at that rate. There is no challenge in this game without PvP.

Another voice of reason. I've recently been trading in my type 6, taking 100 T of palladium around (about 1.6 million which is a lot for a poor bounty hunter like myself) and its boring. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to die (and in my unupgraded type 6 pretty much every player could kill me) but I would look forward to a player trying to interdict me.

If I didn't I would just swap to solo and do some trading.

+1 rep both of you.

Whats the white rep you gave me for the original post cmdr carter?

Interdicted and blew up two wanted players. Was attacked by another wanted player but he managed to escape me.

And I've played a lot. Fact is, almost no PvP is taking place in this game.

I mostly interdict people to scan them and have some follow up chat after that. It's pretty fun and the pvp interaction in this game is more than solid. Hopefully player driven content could be the future of Elite.

I don't think I have encountered any player yet - maybe one, but I escapd. Being fairly new, I don't even know how to tell alive players from AI's (how do you do that, btw?).
