Hunted down, ship destroyed, escape-pod captured, the commander put behind bars for life, all assets confiscated and he has to restart with a new character and Sidewinder.

Because they paid for the game as much as any other player?

This already happens in my game. See my new sigHunted down, ship destroyed, escape-pod captured, the commander put behind bars for life, all assets confiscated and he has to restart with a new character and Sidewinder.

I assume the same would apply for any criminal acts like massacre missions and working for the "wrong" side as far as the Faction with jurisdiction sees it.
...but, it is legit in ED...But within legit gameplay
That can be realistically written into and covered by a form of POW rules (prisoner exchange stuff). What's outside all that are simple psychopath killers who kill for no other reason than the sake of killing. If you choose to be a criminal and venture out of anarchy systems to rob and/or kill, there should be realistic consequences if caught. To me that would enhance the game, even for those who choose to do it. Not having such consequences is tantamount to playing a solo game in god-mode...absolutely pointless.

Cos you haven't yet defined "ganker".
You mean "Death of a Spaceman"?Hunted down, ship destroyed, escape-pod captured, the commander put behind bars for life, all assets confiscated and he has to restart with a new character and Sidewinder.

Anyone who incurs any bounty I think would be fare for the consequences the OP describes.
Fine can be paid off but if you do something that earns you a bounty and that faction catches you the commander put behind bars for life, all assets confiscated sounds fair
So do loggers.. Which is actually worse.. a person that attacks someone they know has no chance just for thrills and destroys their ship literally stealing millions of creds from them.. or someone that logs out when attacked by the same person.. saving himself the creds.Because they paid for the game as much as any other player?
Except one is playing by the rules and the other one is cheating. So do loggers.. I believe Gankers are much worse than loggers. Someone defended Gankers by saying .. that is way they want to play and its' their right.. so i can say the same about loggers.
Except I don't call it cheating...its just another way to play.. you dont' like it.. there is always solo play.. same response to idiots that thing Ganking is ok.. nope.. its worse and should be banned..Except one is playing by the rules and the other one is cheating.
But muh jumprange...Wouldn't the simpler option be to fly an open ready ship build and/or fly with friends?
"Combat Logging", per Frontier's definition, i.e. ungraceful exit from the game, e.g. killing the process, pulling the network connection, etc., is not acceptable and may incur some form of penalty applied to the player's account.Except I don't call it cheating...its just another way to play.. you dont' like it.. there is always solo play.. same response to idiots that thing Ganking is ok.. nope.. its worse and should be banned..
