How to help newer players understand ship combat better.

This may not be the best thing but this could be so extremely simple and would not require much coding or having to redo whole sections.
The biggest issue for newbies and one of the main roadblocks and a major catalyst for quitting the game is combat. The training difficulty goes from 0 to 100 in a few missions.
The dog fighting training section is hard for new players who are trying to understand the controls and the mechanics of the game. I think what would greatly improve the chances of new players sticking around would be to either add a dog fighting training mission or improve the first combat training mission to where you take NO DAMAGE so this gives players an infinite amount of time to learn how to get behind the enemy ship, tracking ships on the radar etc because how it is right now, you get wasted too fast when trying to figure things out.

Now, when players DO learn how to control their ships properly, they have help with online friends who pretty much do the exact same things listed above while not attacking. New players do not really have that option or choose to stay around long enough after rage quitting when combat kicks in or they don't like playing with others and are more of the lone wolf type.
If something was in place to allow players a chance to learn just a small portion of dog fighting and radar placement with out having the session end by getting killed too quickly, this would be the time and place to do it.

I am not saying they should change the combat system at all, just tweak the god mode in that ONE section and have it set to be played over and over etc.
PS4 players/Controller users would greatly benefit from this and the player base could increase as well.

Practice Missions with zero damage when combat and flight mechanics would be perfect. It wouldn't even need to be part of the main training missions, this could be selected in menu as an extra practice, non-canon section..

I gave up playing because I just couldn't grasp dog fighting and no matter how much I tried, never had enough time to figure out the perfect balance of speed, pip selections etc.

I really think having a none damage(For the player) dog fighting practice map, this would give new players ample time to experiment and see what works best for them and get them to learn how to quickly get behind and stay and follow/track enemy ships.

I think what a lot of people try to do is fly it like a plane. But with Elite we are dealing with 6 degrees of freedom and Assist off. A suggestion is to go on Newcomers: Questions, Guides & Tutorials and Practice with other newcomers or find an Elite Pilot that willing to share flying tips.
