Newcomer / Intro How to kill 6 pirates?

For an update: I tried the Mamba again and it seems wayyy better for combat than the Krait, even without much engineering. Unfortunately, combat is all what it's good for --- but's it's really fun.

So now I had to do passenger missions to get modified embedded firmware for more engineering. It seems modular terminals are also available as passenger mission rewards and don't appear to be difficult to get.

I can tell you where to go to safely get lots of modified embedded firmware if it helps.

Need to get some myself actually, just unlocked Nemo for frags, looks like I'm going to need to stock up!

Of course nowadays one can just relog at any M2M site and farm data - no longer the chore of having to trek around 'cos of a 2 week reset on the data points that there used to be.
I think that two week reset thing was just before my time! It sounds awful...

Didn’t you used to be able to run bases for pretty good credits as well back then? 500k-1m for scanning the main terminal or something...

That's right - some great fun jumping gaps, climbing walls - oh the unbridled merriment. /s

... and thanks to BritBox a remastered original:

Avaunt all the low-quality rubbish yootoobs of this sketch. (y)
It’s odd that something requiring a bit of skill and effort like that got nerfed out when you look at the current game and mining...

Honestly i’d love to be a fly on the wall at FD HQ when these kind of decisions are being made.

Do you think they all get together and sit around a table and discuss these things properly?

Or is it perhaps just some lone dev who has to work on Sundays and he’s a bit hungover drinking 4 coffees and like “nope, it’s no fun for me so no fun for you lot” -tap tap-

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these nerfs and buffs were unintended and a consequence of the complexity of the game on the one hand and fading knowledge in the dev team (people moving to new jobs etc) on the other. See for instance the difficulties the devs had to get the drop rates "right" for various commodites in mining hotspots after Tritium was added. Something similar may have happened with the prices for mining-only commodities on the BGS-driven markets.

They still haven't fixed the mining, so it's still impossible. What's the last time you went to a hotspot and found more than trace amounts of the minerals the hotspot advertises, if any at all? I never have.

There's no point in going for materials to Dav's Hope because there's barely anything there. Using a wake scanner and picking up the materials left behind by shot down NPCs yields a lot more much faster.
