General How to restore the Thargoid content without restarting the War!

With the end of the Thargoid war, a lot of fantastic content is no longer available, and there has been a petition for some of the content to be restored in 22460. While I do disagree that 22460 should be restored, it would be a pity for the thargoid war content to be lost until Fdev decide to send in another titan (which could be never).

Could scenarios involving thargoid be added to the training missions section?

In all these missions you are given an appropriate AX ship (either a Chieftain or Krait MK II) to run in the scenario.

These could include;-

1. Thargoid Space CZ - You are in a typical CZ with NPC Human AX ships, and the thargoids attack in waves. First Scouts, then Glaves, Sythes and various inteceptors until the final three Hydras attack at the end.
2. Thargoid Defend Planetary Base - You are in a typical CZ with NPC Human AX ships, and the thargoids attack in waves until the final three Hydras attack at the end. You can land at the base to refuel and repair.
3. Thargoid Defend Space Station - Same as above but but around a space station.
4. Hunt the Orthus - Can you destroy an Orthrus before it jump out (This is very difficult as a single player, so if the difficulty might have to be turned down a little).
5. Rescue the humans - There is a damaged megaship with humans trapped onboard. Can you get the humans, dodge the Inteceptors while doing it and then escape before the Sythes steal your humans.
6. Restore the settlement (Odyssey) - You have to land and get a settlement up and running while avoiding the thargoid ground forces.
7. Poison the Spires (Odyssey) - Can you land near a spire site, get the Materials from the spire site, get back to your ship, synth the poison component and then damage a spire.
8. Titan Rescue - Can you sneak into a Titan Cloud and rescue people trapped on the Titan?
9. Titan Assault - Can you penetrate the Titan Cloud and hit the Titan with everything you've got !

I've always imagined a little arcade style booth on the station/base concourse, or somewhere on the ships menus; where you enter a Virtual Environment (hang on that's a Virtual Environment within a Virtual Environment, so is that Virtual Environment x4) and access the training missions, historical scenarios, or CQC. If you could link the above scenarios with a narrative, the above could be created as a mission pack, . It make a nice single player component for people to play offline, and there's at least enough there for a good 10 hour campaign. That adds another question, would people be willing to pay ARX for that kind of content (say 8820 ARX or the £5 package)?

Agree that a huge part of the game and one I have never tried goes away if something isn't done. Also, didn't they put out an AX dressed ship just this last year, that would be weird to do, then pull the content it was created for or did I miss remember that?

Personally hoping for some kind of 'hive' not too far from the bubble or Colonia that has this game play permanently.

They did and it was available in nice time for the finale of the war.

That feels far too gamey to me, I quite like the training scenario idea though.

I'm all for humans v. Thargoids in a ground (sort of) CZ scenario. For example, 'goids have infested a settlement so it's yours, and your team's, mission to exterminate them. Kill 'em, kill 'em all.

Or perhaps you go on a (stealth?) power restore mission to bring the settlement back on line. But there are Thargoids knocking about so you need to be canny as you'll be wearing a Mav suit *

* However, this does open up the opportunity to get new engineers who can AX your personal gear.

I think I'm repeating myself (again!) though :D

Who’s to say Frontier don’t want to restart the war? I’m pretty sure we’re just waiting for when they decide to return it to the Bubble, even if they haven’t said so outright.
Remember when everyone was certain they'd be a Power? 😏
Not me. I never had that impression too much… though those theories could still be proven right. As much as they might not be.

Good post and totally agree Colin, there are a lot of AX Pilots sitting around not doing anything much. The California Nebulae AXCZ can only go so far and I am starting to see disengagement (myself included) as I've spent far more time on DCS / MSFS 2024 and spending time away from Elite can't be good for the galaxy and The Pilot's Federation!

I am lucky that I enjoy many aspects of the game and I am about to embark on the Apollo 14 Expedition but no there are many that are just into AX...a few in our squadron too.

Be good if we have some lore narrative that somehow one of the Titans (make it impenetrable killing wise due to strong special defenses etc) is about say 1000-2000LY away from the Bubble and keep all the amazing mechanics that were created during the war.

Despite all the critics etc, I think Frontier nailed it with the Thargoid War II overall mechanisms!

o7 & see you in the black,

I would much rather FDEV continued the development of the Thargoid story line than bring in an out of lore and story breaking feature just so people could shoot at Thargoids.

How does that possibly fit in with the Thargoid story line and lore? Surely if they had Titans that were impenetrable and unable to be destroyed they would have just sent them straight into the bubble in the first place, that makes the entire Thargoid war story line up to now completely pointless and irrelevant from any narrative point of view, Thargoid Titan can't be destroyed, may as well give in now. Apart from that 1000-2000ly isn't what I would call outside the bubble, two or 3 jumps in an FC, a few more in a decent ranged ship, they're practically inside the bubble at that distance.

I am sure FDEV have some more story they want to tell, lets not spoil it with silly lore and narrative breaking Deus Ex Machina rubbish!

This just reads like a credit farm

I would love this! I just came back to this game after a 5 year break, and I feel really sad that I missed all the Thargoid War stuff...

Aside from training/simulation stuff, personally I would love to see damaged stations and station evacuation missions come back especially; they could easily work these back in outside the context of the war by saying its terrorist attacks, or maybe damaged stations have a chance to spawn in systems in a civil war. There's really no reason why these had to go away as a gameplay loop.

Also having a couple Titans come back in the California Nebula or Witch Head Nebula would be really cool for those looking to try out the AX stuff optionally.

Who cares, credits are meaningless according to everyone on these forums, until they become valid to their argument. Another player could have hundreds and hundreds of billions but there's jack to spend them on all at once that could effect anyone.
